At this point within The Relic: First Guardian, we are well over halfway into Act 1 with regard to the many bosses that are within this section of the game. However, the act is far from over, and there are more enemies to confront within this large game, one of which is Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day, a quite formidable foe that can be a challenge to find and fight. If you’re here, you’re no doubt struggling, but fear not, as we’ll show you exactly how to beat Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day, as well as his location, and what wares you get for your trouble.

How to Find Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day in The Relic: First Guardian

While searching through the land of The Relic: First Guardian, you will eventually come across a tower within a small lake known as The Silent Spire. This location may seem simple at first glance. Still, after clearing the enemies around the tower and discovering the various notes leading up to it from the entrance shown above, you will learn that to open the tower, you need a sealing stone to open the door.

After reading the various notes that are left behind by the previous person to enter the tower, you will find out that to open The Silent Spire, you will have to acquire a stone that was given to a merchant. In order to find this merchant, you can follow the event marker that leads you to a church filled with monks and other events.

Once you have found this merchant, you can acquire the Sealing Stone of Return, which can be used to open the passage into The Silent Spire. Now that you have entered the tower, it is quite a small area with some loot and enemies lurking throughout, but once you progress far enough, you will eventually come across Tibelle’s Blessing and a shut door, which is the entrance to the boss fight.

How to Beat Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day

After you have explored the depths of The Silent Spire, you are now ready to take on Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day, and it’s a good thing too, as this boss is quite a formidable enemy to take on with a lot of quick and devastating attacks that you will need to be prepared to deal with.

As you walk in the door to trigger the boss fight with the boss, a cutscene will begin showcasing this boss’s haunting physique and daunting arena before jumping straight into the action, and that isn’t just a phrase either, as during my attempts with Garrot, I often found that straight off the bat he would initiate the fight with a quick unblockable charge attack that took me by surprise during my first attempt with him.

Although a lot of the bosses within The Relic: First Guardian are quite strong and attack with long combos that can easily overwhelm the player, Garrot is on a whole other level, as he doesn’t just have long combos, but he attacks nearly constantly with pretty much no break between the combos, making it feel like one big attack rather than numerous small ones.

For me, I found that parrying the boss’s attacks was the most consistent way to survive his brutal combos, as dodging wasn’t a guaranteed way to avoid them simply because the boss’s attacks have a very large arc and can chase you down quite quickly, meaning that with so little stamina you will likely get stuck in his grasp before you get to safety.

UPCOMING BOSSES

  • Vermion, The Gilded Arbiter
  • Arden, The Mad Vindicator

The biggest threat that Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day, boasts is that he uses around three unblockable attacks that can be incredibly powerful if you are not prepared for them. We have already mentioned the first of these attacks above, which isn’t just an attack the boss does as an intro but continuously does throughout the fight, similar to the other attacks that Garrot will employ.

Although the other two attacks are technically separate, they do tend to follow each other in a combo, as both attacks share similar traits. The first attack is a simple over-the-head cleaving attack from Garrot’s axe in which he reels back before he tries to slam straight down on the player; the second unblockable attack is when Garrot then leaps into the air, doing a second over-the-head cleave after hovering in the air for a few seconds.

Now that you can deal with these unblockable attacks, the rest of Garrot’s fight will be quite easy, as his side-to-side axe swings are quite easily pre-empted, especially his spinning attacks, as he spins like a Beyblade, making it easy to predict when he will strike, and once parried, his stance can break quite quickly, providing plenty of opportunity to fight back and deal devastating damage.

After all that, you will have finally beaten Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day, and earned your rewards, which are as follows:

  • His Weapon – The Execution of a Broken Greeting
  • His Lore
  • Relic Energy

Finally, after defeating Garrot, The Executioner of the Black Day, there will be an elevator behind him that will take you up to a small cliff. Do not run off just yet, as this area is home to a Tibelle’s Blessing, which we recommend you use, and a ladder; after using this ladder, you will come across a waterfall and a pool filled with enemies hidden inside.

After defeating these enemies in traditional video game fashion, the waterfall hides a relic that you can use throughout your journey, and a rather good one if we do say so.
