Before you jump into the town of Edens within The Relic: First Guardian, there is one final boss that you will want to take on, and that is Caldrok. When it comes to Caldrok, accessing him as a boss is similar to our old friend Mog or the horrible duo Gavin and Borja.
If you haven’t found Caldrok yet, this guide is your first stop in finding this miscreant, and if you are struggling to defeat him, then look no further, as we will be able to help you gain a leg up against him and ensure your victory.
How to Find Caldrok in The Relic: First Guardian
While exploring Act One of The Relic: First Guardian, you will eventually end up at a rest spot just on the outskirts of the town of Edens, and your first instinct will be to head down into said town. However, before you do that, there is still one boss that you can take on.
Once you are at the rest spot just above the town of Edens, you should head upwards towards a large hill that will ultimately take you to a church. While you are at this church, you will come across a few civilians who are hiding here in order to avoid the various monsters and looters within the surrounding areas.
As you arrive at this church, a man will be waiting for you, and he will ask a favour of you, beginning the event, Wife’s Keepsake, which tasks you to defeat a group of looters in order to find an item from his deceased wife. To do this, you will need to follow the road to the right of the church, but not for long, as there will be a small looter camp with a group of enemies for you to kill.
After doing so, you will acquire the wife’s keepsake, which you will need to take back to the husband at the church; unfortunately, he will not be there to greet you. As the church comes back into view, you will notice that, sadly, a group of looters has begun a siege upon the church and has killed the villagers who were hiding there.
Although there is loot around the church and basic enemies to fight, if you are simply looking to fight Caldrok, then entering the church is your path to follow, as he is awaiting you inside, and once you enter, you will begin the fight.

How to Beat Caldrok
The second you enter Caldrok’s arena, you will find him to the right of the church’s entrance, where he begins taunting you through his words before charging at you at full sprint; however, what will catch you by surprise is that he will stop halfway through his sprint to sneakily throw a knife at you.
This sneaky attack is easily avoided, but for those who aren’t prepared, it can be a quick piece of damage that will start your fight off poorly. After this attack, the fight begins properly with Caldrok as he begins using his sword to do rather flamboyant attacks that sword fighters around the world would find excessive.
In terms of attacks, Caldrok doesn’t have a lot of variety, as he only does a couple of combos throughout the fight, each being as flamboyant as the last. What makes these attacks simple to avoid is the fact that the wind-up for each attack is very long, providing plenty of time to prepare yourself for whatever the boss throws at you.
UPCOMING BOSSES
- Druger, Protector of Edens
- Mortum, The Twisted One
The reason behind these long wind-ups is that Caldrok does a lot of spinning in his attacks as well as jumping, meaning that you can clearly see how he will attack and when. Because of this, fighting Caldrok is quite an easy fight, as there are plenty of opportunities to parry his attacks and eventually break his poise, stunning him and allowing time for massive damage.
However, as easy as Caldrok can be, he does have one rather long combo that can easily break your poise if you aren’t careful. The biggest combo that the boss will use against you is a 6-attack-long combo in which the boss begins by doing two spin attacks in opposite directions before doing a regular sword slash leading into a spinning slash and finishing with a simple double slash.
Due to this attack being the biggest threat when fighting Caldrok, there isn’t much more to worry about, as the rest of his attacks involve him jumping around and slamming his sword down or spinning before a large slash, ensuring that you have plenty of simple opportunities to fight back and defend yourself.
After you deplete Caldrok’s health and defeat him, you will be able to claim your rewards from defeating him, which are:
- His Sword – What Could Never Be Laid Down
Once you have defeated Caldrok, you can now venture back down the hill and rest at the camp before entering the town of Edens and beginning your completion of Act One. Before you leave the Chuech however, make sure you head to the end where poor Oslo’s body is sat, massacred by Caldrok and his men. Pick up the last note of the Event, and then you’ll have completed Wife’s Keepsake too.
