If you haven’t already found Erdian, The Broken Vow, we have you covered. When you are exploring the open world of The Relic: First Guardian, you will eventually come across a location known as the “Collapsed Ramparts”. At first glance, this location looks rather simple, with a few enemies littered around and a chest hidden on top of the ramparts, but if you head to the west side of the ramparts, you can find a group of enemies guarding a lift.

Once you defeat these enemies and head down the lift, you will then enter the “Tomb of Broken Oaths”, which is where Erdian will be hiding. After making your way through this area and coming across a rest spot outside a closed door, you will now be ready to take on Erdian and claim your rewards.

How to Beat Erdian, The Broken Vow

Now that you are at the closed door, you are ready to take on Erdian, The Broken Vow. Once you enter the room, a small cutscene will take place, showing you Erdian’s horrid physique before the fight kicks in. A key part of the fight with Erdian is the fact that he spends a lot of the time running away from the player rather than towards them, and this can be used to your advantage.

Although you might be spending a lot of your time chasing this boss around the arena, if you can catch up to him in time for him to stop running, you will then have plenty of time to do some heavy damage before he begins to fight back. However, once he begins to fight back, you should be very careful, as Erdian deals a lot of damage in his attacks, making him a tough opponent to fight.

Due to Erdian’s grotesque nature, his attacks are pretty simple, with him only using his hands to attack you. This means that you don’t really have to pay attention to anything else and instead can watch his hands for any attacks that he might be winding up to use against you.

CHEESE METHOD: Throughout the arena, there are various barrels that can be destroyed, leaving a small pool of fire on the floor. If you kite the boss into these barrels, causing him to stand in them for a while, it can cause him to gain the burning effect slowly, leading him to burn his own health away.

In terms of what attacks to watch out for, there are quite a few that can catch you off guard if you are unprepared for them. Whether it be his unblockable attack, in which he runs towards the player with the usual symbol appearing above his head, and then does one large hit with his hand. This move can be quite deadly if it makes contact with you, but due to Erdian’s slow nature, it is quite easily dodged.

Another attack that will likely catch players by surprise is when Erdian does a surprise reach forward for the player when they get close. This move is quite distinct from the others, as the boss essentially raises his arms towards the player and runs a small distance towards them. Although this attack can be parried and dodged, the shock and speed of it can catch players off guard, as he often does this attack when the player gets close and lets their guard down.

UPCOMING BOSSES

What makes Erdian just a challenging boss to go against is the fact that he has a lot of poise for the player to break, and is very challenging to interrupt when he is committing to an attack. Because of this, we recommend that you simply avoid his attacks where possible and run back in to strike him with your basic attack or skills when necessary. As a bonus, if you are carrying any form of throwables or using magic, this can be effective against Erdian as well, as he spends a lot of his time avoiding you; it is like shooting fish in a barrel.

After defeating Erdian, The Broken Vow, he will fall to the floor in a rather dramatic way, showcasing that he has been defeated, and then you will be able to earn rewards from beating him and complete the Event ‘The Day Silence was Chosen’; those rewards are as follows:

  • The Relic – Retribution
  • Erdian, The Broken Vow Lore
  • Relic Energy

After defeating Erdian, you will be able to leave his boss room and head further into the Tomb of Broken Oaths until you reach a new lift. After heading up this lift, be careful not to run straight out, as you will be brought out in a tower that you need to parkour down, ending up at a new rest spot and even a quest.
