The Blood of Dawnwalker was finally revealed a few days past, with a cinematic trailer that left many of us not only intrigued but asking, “Are the vampires the good guys?”. Well, we still don’t have an answer to that question, but with the game being made by Rebel Wolves, a new development studio primarily staffed by former CD Projekt Red veterans, there will no doubt be plenty of nuance in every character, quest, and game mechanic.
Is it What’s Not Being Said About The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Of course, with any big new reveal, the devs end up having to curate what’s released, both in press releases, publically consumable trailers, and the like, but also on their personal social media profiles, especially X (formerly Twitter). As such, when fans come asking questions, you can generally expect a PR-trained response not really giving anything away, but the odd pearl does slip through, like the one below.
Of all the questions asked over the last few days, the most hyper-specific is from an X user imbratorX, who asked whether The Blood of Dawnwalker would feature real-time hair and beard growth, similar to what we saw in 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2, with Arthur Morgan.
Pawel Panasiuk, Global Marketing Lead for Rebel Wolves wasted no time in putting to bed any talk of such details, but with a suggestive wink at the end of his response, teased that there may be more to tell in the future.
There is an argument to be had that if The Blood of Dawnwalker didn’t have such a gameplay feature, an intensive and difficult one to make, it would be better to get it out of the way now and tell us. After all, it’s easily explained, that with the protagonist Coen being half-vampire and half-human, he could simply not grow any hair any longer.

Again, if the pedigree of the studio is anything to go by, there will be plenty of gameplay features and mechanics in The Blood of Dawnwalker that’ll shock and surprise us, and no doubt push the gaming genre forward just as Red Dead Redemption 2. Whether the hair and beard feature mentioned makes an appearance is anyone’s guess, but it hasn’t been seen elsewhere since then, a surprising detail that points to the complexity that the feature Rockstar Games pioneered includes.
One feature that is confirmed to be making an appearance is the 30-day and 30-night cycle, a time-sensitive feature designed to increase the urgency for players, but not in real-time. Instead of checking your proverbial watch every time you’re booting up The Blood of Dawnwalker, you only need to worry about time moving forward (and your time remaining to save your family reducing) every time you complete a quest of some kind; a novel way of forcing the player forward whilst allowing them freedom to explore.
Rebel Wolves’ The Blood of Dawnwalker release date is unknown currently, but it is confirmed to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
