Days Gone Remastered was one of the best parts of the recent State of Play, but most fans saw this coming from a mile away. It would make sense for Sony Interactive Entertainment to remaster this underrated open-world zombie apocalypse experience and take full advantage of the extra horsepower of the PlayStation 5 and Pro systems, and it provides extra revenue for very little extra work, comparatively, to that of a new IP. Those who already own a physical and digital copy of the PlayStation 4 game have the privilege of availing the remaster for only $10; however, some players are ineligible.
PlayStation Plus Owners Can’t Use the $10 Upgrade Path for Days Gone Remastered
Video games nowadays are not cheap, and people will find any way to get a price cut. While waiting for sales and discounts are viable options for the latest PlayStation remaster, the company offers an upgrade path for most of its first-party titles in the past, and Days Gone Remastered is no different. Unfortunately, not everyone can make use of the $10 upgrade path for Days Gone, and for good reason.
Sony included the game and a handful of others on the PS Plus Collection for players with an active subscription to play digitally. One might assume this would allow them to make use of the $10 upgrade, but that is not an option. Days Gone Remastered has been rumored for months, and fans can rest easy knowing it will be released sooner than expected.
The remaster will be released on April 25, 2025, for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, but some fans believe this franchise deserved a sequel more than a remaster.

It would have been convenient for PlayStation Plus subscribers to take their digital copy and pay the $10 fee, but unfortunately, that is not how it works. To make use of the cheaper upgrade path, a player will have had to have paid for the game from the PlayStation Store or have a physical copy. Days Gone was originally released in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, and used copies are floating over the used market for dirt cheap, so there is still a way to benefit for cheaper than the full release price. However, those who ‘purchased’ the game for free thanks to the PS Plus collection will be going without, and have to pay the full $49.99 price tag.
Bend Studio may have been denied the opportunity to work on a sequel, but this remaster might force Sony to reconsider. The developers added a few things to convince players to give this remaster a chance by doubling down on what it was renowned for: the zombie hordes. Days Gone Remastered has increased the number of Freakers (zombies) thanks to the better hardware, and players can have a much more immersive experience with the DualSense controller with new haptic support included.
Along with upgraded visuals and accessibility features, this remaster has new game modes, such as Permadeath and Speedrun mode, similar to The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, where players can time their playthrough and do their best to finish the game without dying.
Fans fell in love with the impressive horde design, and this remaster has an arcade game mode where players can test their luck against the undead, with the additional Horde Assault mode, it looks like we’ll all be able to enjoy the best part of the original in a potentially exceptional new mode.
