Dune: Awakening Continues to Excel as it Breaks New Ground

Last Updated on Jun 18, 2025 @ 14:12:11 PM.

Just recently, we saw Dune: Awakening rising in the charts with 117k users at its peak. It has again broken that record and now it stands with a new peak of 189k users, according to SteamDB, which it attained on June 15, 2025. As of this writing, that number is down to 90k, with a 24 hours peak of 158 users. Players are certainly loving the sands of Arrakis coming to this video game world.

The Funcom game takes place in an alternate universe, and there’s no Paul Atreides in it. Players are their own Pauls who have to survive in this civil war between House Atreides and House Harkonnen. While this is only one game based on the popular universe once created by Frank Herbert, we still have a couple more games to come based on it, as Funcom and Legendary Entertainment have made a deal stretching to six years.

Funcom is Working on Dune: Awakening’s ‘Biggest Issue’

While the rest of the things are going great for the Funcom game, it still comes with certain issues, but the developers are working on it. This issue concerns the PvP, which players think should add more combat to it. As of now, the PvP mode is more about trading with other players and not something like fighting them and outshining them with a show of some skills. Most of the time that players invest in building their abilities is simply a waste if they cannot use it.

With issues like these, Dune: Awakening is thriving already. There should be more to this explosion, as more players might try to feel the heat of Arrakis. While we cannot exactly say if Funcom will put more emphasis on PvP combat. If that is, in fact, what they are working on, it will be a great addition to the game, as more players would want to showcase their skills to other players. At least that is what the initial reaction suggests.
