“Fortnite is for kids”: Randy Orton Doesn’t Take Prisoners Over Carmelo Hayes Gaming Slander and Defends Elden Ring

Randy Orton is no stranger to the public spotlight, especially after he made a name and built an impressive career as a WWE wrestler. The physicality of his line of work forced him and his fellow wrestlers to work out through insane hours, but these men could only take so much and needed something to blow off a little steam.

Fortunately, this is where the gaming industry comes in to save him from boredom, as he found solace in Soulslike games, such as Elden Ring. These games are not for the faint of heart, and Orton is proud to share his knowledge and love for the genre while taking a few shots at a fellow wrestler for his taste in games.

The gaming community has changed after developers spoiled them with different genres. Some prefer to play single-player action games; others prefer to play with friends in the live service genre; and some are ready for a soul-crushing experience. Randy Orton saw the opportunity to shed light on his gaming side while dissing on Carmelo Hayes after he revealed he spent months playing Fortnite.

While WWE wrestlers messing with their colleagues during interviews is nothing new, this is a testament to the impressive reach FromSoftware has beyond the gaming industry. Athletes like Orton have been praising Elden Ring even if it’s a few years old, which speaks volumes about what director Hidetaka Miyazaki has achieved.

Fortnite and Elden Ring are two different games and perfectly represent the tastes of each wrestler. Perhaps Hayes prefers the competitive side of fighting alongside and against other players, although there is a decent chance that he is often playing with children.

In another video, Orton revealed he spent 600 hours on the game while recovering from his spinal fusion surgery. The hours he invested into grinding resources and other items for his Tarnished is no minor feat, especially when most players would struggle to balance other priorities with their gaming time. Randy Orton had plenty of time to kill and spent it wisely by slaying overpowered enemies.
