Fresh Tracks Might Just be the Next BeatSaber with a Huge Twist

Recently, we had the opportunity to try out Fresh Tracks, a Rhythm-Based Roguelite Skiing Adventure from developer Buffalo Buffalo. In it, the player must survive an onslaught of obstacles as they dodge, jump, and slash their way through a colorful and musical world, something players will be immediately of BeatSaber because of.

Editor’s Note
During our time with Fresh Tracks, it was still in a Pre-Alpha build. Due to this, aspects of the game are subject to change during the development process, and are understandably rough in some areas.

Fresh Tracks is Full of Magic and Music

As stated above, Fresh Tracks is a unique Rhythm-Based Roguelite title that tasks the player with skiing through a world that is taken over by a never-ending snowstorm as they battle numerous gods in an attempt to save the world.

During this adventure, players will have to use their quick reactions and planning skills as they venture through the world of Fresh Tracks, as each level is full of numerous obstacles for the player to overcome as well as rewards that can potentially make each new level easier.

Due to Fresh Tracks being both a Rhythm-Based title as well as a Roguelite, players will have to combine their skills to survive the onslaught that they will face within Fresh Tracks whether it be the numerous obstacles that await them on their path or the enemies that stand in their way. Throughout my time with Fresh Tracks, I was only able to try a few of the tracks that were available as the title is still in Pre-Alpha, as well as get a look into some of the Talismans (Upgrades) the player can acquire throughout their journey and even the first boss encounter.

However, throughout my time with Fresh Tracks, I was shocked at how fun and interesting the title was, with each level being unique and full of challenges, leading me to try new routes each time I attempted them while also listening to some of the most interesting music I have heard in a game in quite some time. What helped to increase my enjoyment of Fresh Tracks was the fact that it wasn’t a simple Rhythm-Based game in which I only had to focus on moving the character or landing precise button presses, but it combined these two features, making a Rhythm-Based game that always has you on your toes.

This became quite stressful on some occasions, especially on the harder levels, as there are quite a few different mechanics to keep track of, such as leaning, switching lanes, swiping a magical sword in numerous directions, and even jumping, but that is what makes Fresh Tracks so much fun, as each new level provided a new challenge.

Even though Fresh Tracks is still in Pre-Alpha condition and has only just been revealed, it is already looking to be a fantastic Rhythm-Based Rogulite Skiing Adventure that will have players jumping from their seats in excitement or just dancing to the songs that the game provides.
