Assassin’s Creed Shadows Latest Issue Will Make Ubisoft Think the Title is Cursed

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is in the news once again, and Ubisoft is sure to be looking into why its upcoming addition to its flagship franchise has been at the center of controversies so often. It has been a long and bumpy road for the franchise’s trip to feudal Japan with its latest obstacle stemming from physical copies of the game being leaked nearly a month before its official release date.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Faces Down Another Problem

Reports of Assassin’s Creed Shadows making its way into players’ hands this early is sure to be concerning to Ubisoft considering the French studio’s efforts to make its latest project resonate with its fans and stakeholders alike.

While the leaked version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is said to be an older build of the game that will not feature many of the improvements that Ubisoft has made since its delayed November 2024 release, the leak is bound to be a blow considering how clips of the game have already made their way to many online forums with Ubisoft scrambling to have them taken down.

Ubisoft will find this latest hurdle to be particularly annoying considering all of the issues it has had to face since the game’s announcement. It is also disappointing to see players who have obtained copies of the game leaking what could be important details about its story and gameplay when one considers how Ubisoft has been making several efforts to ensure that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is everything its players were hoping for from its new setting.

Ubisoft Makes a Sincere Appeal to Its Players

Fans of Assassin’s Creed Shadows who happen across leaked footage from the game must take those clips with a pinch of salt considering that the build will most likely not showcase some of its best features, a new engine facilitating a dynamic weather system being chief among them.

Ubisoft has since released an appeal to its fans, requesting players to refrain from checking out leaked footage as they eagerly wait to dive into its take on the Hidden Ones’ presence in Japan’s turbulent Sengoku era.

“We are aware players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official release. The development team is still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch and any footage shared does not represent the final quality of the game. Stay in the shadows, avoid the spoilers, and keep an eye on our channel for more official surprises in the coming weeks!”

The studio will certainly hope that this is the last time its latest title is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons as it gears up for what it hopes will be a reversal of its fortunes.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases on March 20th, 2025, barring another delay, and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac.
