The world premiere of Half Life 3 could be upon us and the signs are all around. After years of progress and innovation, any casual gamer can understand the basic principles of game development and realize that it takes a toll on the developer. Fans have been eager to see a new entry to the iconic franchise; however, a full decade has passed and Valve has been tight-lipped about this highly anticipated project.
Game development and leaks are packaged together and developers have yet to devise a permanent solution to combat this problem. Convincing shreds of evidence suggests that Half Life 3 could finally see the light of day and fans should tune in to what is arguably the biggest annual gaming event.
5. A Trusted Insider Is Convinced That Half Life 3 Could Be Revealed at the Game Awards

Some journalists have built a strong foundation and proven trustworthy in dispersing confidential information. Jason Schreier is no stranger to sensitive information that developers would prefer to be kept under wraps and he is convinced that Half Life 3 could be revealed at The Game Awards in some capacity.
During a guest appearance on the Kinda Funny show, Schreier played coy on which game he was referring to that would be revealed during the show. Most developers attended the show and figured it was the perfect opportunity to share their projects with the general public. Schreier’s previous scoops have proven him to be one of the more reliable sources in the entertainment industry. If this is to be believed, this will only boost his credibility and influence further.
4. Other Insiders Are Teasing Something Massive

Schreier could be on to something when he made that exciting statement during his visit at the Kinda Funny office and other insiders began to tease something massive for the upcoming event. Andy Robinson took his excitement on his X account and it rattled a few cages within the gaming community.
Expecting a VERY big Game Awards next week. Fire up the hype train.

At this point, all bets are off and any game could be revealed during The Game Awards. To remove any doubt of a massive reveal, Robinson is confident in this take and affirmed that this is not a guess on his part but a guarantee.
Definitely not a guess

Robinson better be right but fans can protect themselves from disappointment by measuring their expectations.
3. One Insider Is Questionable, Two Is a Coincidence, but Three Is a Trifecta for the Half Life 3 Hype Train

The gaming community often looks towards reliable journalists and scoopers to quench their thirst for updates on upcoming projects. Alongside Schreier and Robinson, Tom Warren is another reliable source fanning the flames and building up hype for this year’s The Game Awards.

Warren took to Bluesky and quoted Robinson’s post, and fans can piece together whatever the insiders are hinting at. Schreier teased a big game could be revealed during the show, and the Half Life franchise has been a gaming staple. Perhaps other developers will share new details for upcoming games but it all adds up.
2. Revealing Half Life 3 During the 10th Anniversary of the Game Awards Could Be a Historic Moment

All bets are off for games that could be featured during the show but Geoff Keighley should have something up his sleeves to blow the gaming community away. For the last 10 years, players everywhere have been casting their votes for their favorite games to win in their respective categories, and this event served as a showcase or a platform for game developers to give them a glimpse into the future.
Valve representatives will likely attend the show and the company has had a great working relationship with Keighley in the past few years. It is worth noting that Valve gave away a hundred Steam Decks during The Game Awards 2023, and the developers could be thinking of ways how to top that. It is also worth noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Half Life 2, and the announcement of the sequel during the show could break the internet.
1. Valve Isn’t Even Trying to Hide the Fact Half Life 3 Exists

Valve has been actively working on improvements for other established games such as Counter-Strike 2, Deadlock, and more, and data miners take every opportunity to siphon out more information the developers want to keep for themselves. Data miners found new details about the developers are working on improving existing systems from previous Half Life games rather than starting from scratch.
Data miners found a trove of source codes about the in-game artificial intelligence, physics, sound bits, and more are being added to the engine core. Sound bits of a shotgun blast from Half Life Alyx were uncovered from Dota 2 suggesting that gunplay is being tested already. The leaks also suggest that Valve is focused on optimizing the game’s performance rather than prioritizing the visuals and could be compatible with the Steam Deck and its successor.
Fans have been waiting for the past two decades and it seems like Valve is in the final stages to reveal Half Life 3. While nothing is set in stone, fans should tune into The Game Awards to see what all these insiders are excited about.
