As such, we’ve provided an in-depth look into each character in terms of their skills, stats, abilities, unique skins, and more, starting with Marvel Rivals Iron Man!

Marvel Rivals Iron Man Overview and Lore

Whether you are a Marvel fan or not, nearly everyone has heard of the Invincible Iron Man at least once, and thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this character has garnered more love from the fan base than any other thanks to the incredible performance provided by Robert Downey Jr., and with Marvel Rivals Iron Man, the character will shine again.

Marvel Rivals Iron Man may not be all too dissimilar from what MCU fans know, as this version of Iron Man, harmed by his own weapons of destruction, ends up creating the Iron Man suit. However, this is where the similarities end, as this version of the character has a different objective after the Legions of the Night descended upon New York City. This led Iron Man to upgrade the Avengers base in NYC into a stronghold where he aims to research Chronovium, a resource created for Marvel Rivals, as he attempts to reverse the Timestream Entanglement that plagues the game’s story.

Marvel Rivals Iron Man Tips & Tricks

When it comes to any game like Marvel Rivals, it isn’t as simple as picking up the controller and figuring the character out right away; there is always a learning curve, so we have provided some tips to make learning how to play as Iron Man easier.

  • Due to Iron Man’s ability to fly and his immense speed, it is highly recommended to try and keep this character on the move both to create and shorten the distance between enemies and to be an unpredictable target.
  • Iron Man’s repulsors aren’t just useful for direct hits, as they also provide some splash damage. This allows for some extra damage even if you miss and hit the floor near the enemy you are shooting at.
  • Save Iron Man’s Armor Overdrive for when you are low on ammo for your basic weapons, as this will provide an infinite amount of ammo and a damage boost, saving you the reload and keeping you in the fight that little while longer before you retreat.
  • Before using Iron Man’s Invincible Pulse Cannon ability, we would recommend using Hyper-Velocity first and moving yourself high up and a fair distance from the enemies, as this ability does require a short charging period, leaving Iron Man vulnerable to attacks.
  • Do not be afraid to run away using Hyper-Velocity; sometimes taking a moment to heal and reload is beneficial, especially when you get outnumbered.

One of the best things regarding Marvel Rivals is the fact that there are plenty of other characters to try, so if you aren’t feeling Iron Man is for you, then try someone else or just practise a little bit in the practise arena.

How to Beat Marvel Rivals Iron Man (Weaknesses & Counters)

Iron Man may seem like a very simplistic character that is able to avoid many attacks and keep himself alive as he deals damage to enemies, but just like every character, he does have his weaknesses and counters that can bring him down easier than Vision took down Rhodey in Captain America: Civil War.

  • Being able to chase Iron Man down is quite a big counter for this character, so being able to fly after him and hunt him down will generate numerous opportunities to hurt him.
  • If you are looking to take Iron Man down from range, characters who use guns will be the most effective; the best characters for this are the Winter Soldier and the Punisher, as they are able to deal a lot of damage from range with their guns.
  • Since he only has a small amount of health, it is very easy to take Iron Man down fast, so focusing him if you are able to communicate with your team is vital to taking him down fast before he has a chance to unleash his high-powered attacks.
  • Shutting down his Invincible Pulse Cannon is a must, as that ability will clear out your team fast; either running away or killing him before it activates is vital to your survival.

Alternate Skins

NetEase may be releasing the game and the characters for free, but for the alternate skins and costumes, we’ll have to reach into our pockets for the best looks for our favorite heroes! With 33 (and counting) heroes to play as, and an entire multiverse of looks to put on screen, there’s going to be no shortage of choices to pick from! Below is the full list of Marvel Rivals Iron Man skins to pick!

Default

As stated above, this version of Iron Man is one that comic book readers and even movie goers will be fairly familiar with as he wears his iconic red suit with the blue Arc Reactor chest plate, but this version does have a more impressive style with additional blue energy-like accents throughout the armor, as well as a more muscle-toned style.

Superior Iron Man

This skin has been announced prior to the release of Marvel Rivals by NetEase and comes straight from the Superior Iron Man comics.

This suit of armor was worn by Tony Stark during the Superior Iron Man series and is made of a Symbiote-Infused metal that acts like a liquid until it makes contact with Tony ultimately creating the sleek silver armor. However, this armor does have a more menacing style to it as this version of the Superior Iron Man suit is worn by Tony when he turns to the dark side, due to a spell being cast on Earths heroes and villains swapping their moralities.

In Marvel Rivals, the Superior Iron Man suit resembles its comic counterpart nearly entirely except for the energy color as this has been swapped from Blue to Red providing a more menacing look fitting with this version of the character, represented even more so by NetEase’s quote for him:

I’m the most intelligent, capable person on the planet. I’m not playing God. All this time…I’ve been playing Human.

If that doesn’t put a chill down your spine, then nothing will.
