Scarlett Johansson is one of Hollywood’s leading ladies, with a resume most actors would kill for. Having starred in the early days of the MCU, several billion-dollar-plus films, indie hits, and much more, she’s now coming to the end of her directorial debut, with as little as “two weeks left” in post-production. During her interview with those over at Today, she admitted that little nugget of information, but also some details on her upcoming debut in the Jurassic World franchise, and her true feelings on co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Scarlett Johansson’s Directorial Debut
Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut has almost ended, with her time right now spent firmly in the post-production office getting Eleanor the Great ready for release. With an all-star cast including Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange), June Squibb (Inside Out 2, About Schmidt), and more, the film centers around Squibb’s Eleanor Morgenstein, and her troubles as a 90-year-old, making friends, moving and living life to the fullest.
Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to being involved in wholesome, if not hard-hitting films, with the likes of Her and Lost in Translation being just two such examples. How she manages to translate her acting chops into directing ability is yet to be seen, but she did describe it as a “Seamless transition”, having been in the industry since she was a child, it’s certainly not outside her capabilities and represents a return for her to the indie circuit and stories she clearly loves.
She went on to discuss directors she’s previously worked for, saying, “Everyone has their own unique style”, the preceding line before she heaped praise on her MCU counterpart Jon Favreau and his directing style, admitting one conversation on the set of Iron Man 2 has influenced her own directing style.
Jurassic World Rebirth – Her Dream Fulfilled

Scarlett Johansson also dropped a little nugget regarding her time on the set of Jurassic World Rebirth, going as far as admitting her co-star Jonathan Bailey is “delicious in every way”, and that she’s “obsessed with him”. Thankfully, this was a tongue-in-cheek comment clearly meant to heap praise on the Wicked: Part One star, something she’s yet to see herself, she admitted.
She announced the filming of the latest entry in the franchise has now finished, after spending five months across Thailand, Malta, and the United Kingdom, calling it a “whirlwind”. She also admitted that her lifelong dream is now complete, with wanting to be involved in the dinosaur franchise since she was a child, “Put the dots on me, I’ll be that person”, and “It was a crazy ride!”.
Jurassic World Rebirth sees Scarlett Johansson teaming up with Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, five years after the end of Jurassic World Dominion, as they attempt to recover dinosaur DNA for ‘pharmaceutical purposes’. Encountering a stranded family, secrets are found and lies uncovered. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One, The Creator), the film should be full of action and family-based drama.
