The Alters brings us into the sci-fi future, in a game where choices, regret, and cloning get mashed up in a time resource managing, survival simulation game that’ll have us feeling good, then bad, then utterly dejected about our choices, and we can’t wait for it.
During a chat with star Alex Jordan, we got to talking to him about the prospects of DLC or even a sequel, and he made an incredibly pertinent point about the franchise, and also about 11 Bit Studio’s pedigree in the gaming industry.
11 Bit Studios All Mashed Up

The Alters may be one of 11 Bit Studios’ most unusual games, and it’s largely why so many are so excited at the prospect of getting our hands on it, albeit a little later than expected. Playing as Jan Dolski, a space miner, whose sole existence is to avoid radiation poisoning at the hands of a nearby, ever-encroaching sun, all whilst coming to terms with the existential and philosophical quandary of creating crewmates out of himself.
During our chat with Alex Jordan, we had to ask the question about a potential sequel and what that could look like. He didn’t hesitate to bring up 11 Bit Studio’s history in making unique and interesting games, and what that could mean for The Alters 2, or future The Alters DLC:
I will always love to come back to Jan Dolski. I think you know it’s a crazy cool universe, and I think there are really cool ways in which you could do sequel-type stuff or DLC but I think, the way 11 Bit Studios create such unique games they could probably do sequel stuff that is almost an entirely different style of game within this world.
What that could be is up in the air and pure conjecture, but 11 Bit Studios has had a history of making games outside the normal over the years, and, as Jordan goes on to say, they all have one thing in common:
That’s what’s great about 11 Bit Studios is they have so many different styles of game and games that they publish, and the one thing that binds all of these games is what they say as the slogan is ‘meaningful, meaningful games, meaningful stories, meaningful narrative’, so I think there are ways in which you could do it even without it being a direct sequel.
That last sentence may well pour some water on some excited fans fires, but be it a different genre-mashup, a graphic novel (another of Jordan’s suggestions in the full interview), or something else entirely, The Alters is shaping up to be a huge success with the buzz currently surrounding it, so we won’t have to wait too long to find out the result.
