The Alters Launch Trailer Showcases What’s the Difficulties in Store for All of Us

The Alters is right around the corner, and the developers over at 11 Bit Studios released the official launch trailer in celebration. While the trailer did its best to conceal potential spoilers, it reminded players what they can expect. Fill in the shoes of Jan Dolski, the sole survivor of a failed expedition on a hostile planet.

With limited resources and living on borrowed time, Jan can only count on himself to survive, both metaphorically and literally. Jan can create a variety of alternate variants with unique personalities and skill sets to better allocate the daily workload on his rig.

More so than any other game in its history, 11 bit Studios’ The Alters was as much a risk as it was a unique opportunity, thanks to COVID in 2020, as The Alters Game Director, Tomasz Kisilewicz, said:

With the team steadily growing, the pandemic reshaping the way we work, and all the usual challenges of game development, these past years have been both creatively rewarding and full of hurdles, but now, as we stand on the brink of release, I’m proud to say we’ve delivered a game that stays true to its original vision—thanks entirely to the determination and talent of our incredible development team. They brought The Alters to life, and we can’t wait for players to finally experience it.

There is nothing like imminent doom to bring out the best and worst in a person. Jan will need all the help he can get, but will have to make tough choices along the way. The variants are a living embodiment of how Jan’s life could have been, but in reality, they are nothing more than expendable resources. It is up to you to treat them as such, or give them the same trust, respect, and care you would any other crew member, and see them for what they are; you with different decisions.

All this and more is waiting for you when The Alters launches June 13th, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
