The First Berserker: Khazan – How to Beat Blade Phantom

Playing The First Berserker: Khazan? Are you finding it difficult to beat the next boss, find the best items, or nail down the best builds for Khazan, the exiled General and protagonist of the game? Well, whether it’s that or something else entirely, we’ll help you become the best version of yourself in The First Berserker: Khazan, and demolish every enemy and boss in your path. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can beat Blade Phantom, the second boss in the game, and your first real challenge.

How to Defeat Blade Phantom in The First Berserker: Khazan

The Blade Phantom boss battle will come at the end of The First Berserker: Khazan‘s second level, Trial of the Frozen Mountain. It’s also the first challenge you’ll have in the game compared to that of Yetuga, the first level and tutorial boss battle, and like most of the other boss battles, Blade Phantom has multiple phases.

Suggested Level: 9
Suggested Weapons: Dual Blades

The suggested level of Trial of the Frozen Mountain is nine, but you’ll quickly surpass this during your exploration and the combat throughout it. Add to that the skill points gained and you’ll be making your life much easier with Blade Phantom.

Phase One

Phase One of the Blade Phantom boss battle is simple, once you get the gist of what’s happening. Pay close attention to his attacks, as he only has a few, and once you understand the attack patterns, you’ll be able to correctly time your Guards and your own attacks.

He has three main attacks:

  • A five-part kick/punch combo that you’ll want to guard or dodge your way through. Don’t attempt to attack during this attack, and wait for it to finish.
  • A hammer to the ground. This’ll cause sharp spikes to attack you from the ground.
  • Disappearing into mist across the map, before zooming across towards you with a spear. Guard or dodge this!

As well as the three above, Phase One of the Blade Phantom boss battle also has a few less regular attacks, but the main thing to keep in mind is to guard almost always and pick your attacks properly. He spends a lot of time walking around, underestimating you, take these moments to unleash hell on him. Also, if you break his stance, absolutely perform a Brutal Attack on him using Square/X.

Phase Two

Phase Two of the Blade Phantom boss battle is where the real fun begins. He’s no longer underestimating you, and the time between his attacks is smaller, as well as a range of new attacks to deal with.

His main attacks during this phase are:

  • A five-time claw combo where he’ll lunge toward you, striking you five times. Again, don’t attempt to interrupt this as you’ll get punished. As soon as the second phase begins, he will ALWAYS open with this immediately. Be prepared.
  • A twist on the hammer attack from the last phase, but it still causes spikes from the ground, except there are more of them.
  • He’ll float in the air and throw a spear at you, which you should guard or dodge. You’ll then want to get out of the glowing radius as if you’re not quick enough, you’ll be struck with more spikes.

The Blade Phantom is seemingly never-ending in his stamina and tenacity in the second phase of this boss battle, but don’t give up. Be patient, dodge, and guard. If you think you’re good enough to perfectly guard his attacks, do, otherwise, guard normally and bide your time. Beating the Blade Phantom requires you to be brave at the right moments, so don’t go hell for leather from the off.

If you’ve followed the above tips and tricks, you’ll have hopefully beaten the Blade Phantom in The First Berserker: Khazan, and next up, you’ll have the third level’s boss the Viper to contend with.
