The God of War franchise is the latest video game IP to receive the live-action treatment, and the gaming community has received a major update. The shift between a live-action adaptation from a video game standpoint can be jarring, but with a decent script and stellar casting, this has the makings of a great adaptation.
The show has undergone many changes and even delays, but things are starting to materialize. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of who will play the Ghost of Sparta, and Prime Video has now shared major casting news.
Amazon Prime Video Revealed the Live-Action God of War, and He Has a Familiar Voice

After years of anticipation, Prime Video has given the fans a major update for the show, and what better way to start it off than by revealing the actor to bring the Ghost of Sparta to life. Fans of the recent Norse entries will be surprised to learn that Kratos will be played by none other than Ryan Hurst. This casting is a shocking surprise, no pun intended, considering Hurst was part of the video game series as the God of Thunder.

Hurst voiced Thor in God of War Ragnarok and delivered an exceptional performance; however, many would agree his time in the series was cut short. Perhaps giving him the role of his adversary in a different medium will make up for it and show a different side of Kratos.
It was not long ago when the entire show had to start from scratch, which was not a good look for the production as a whole. Amazon understood the reputation of the franchise and its place in the video game industry and aims to give it the adaptation it deserves. Fortunately, showrunner Robert D. Moore has enough experience to bring God of War to a new audience.
