Despite seemingly constant controversy, Assassin’s Creed Shadows not only released last month but was met with across-the-board praise, with many considering it to be a franchise high after years of middling entries. Now, Ubisoft has released its first major update of the title, Title Update 1.0.2, today, and it brings with it a huge number of changes and makes it an even better experience for all who play it.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Title Update 1.0.2 Details
Ubisoft may be in the news due to its recent Tencent subsidiary announcement, but as well as the big business movement, the studio is in full swing for supporting its latest entry for one of its flagship franchises. As well as some bug fixes, players can expect to see a raft of changes that’ll improve general gameplay in a number of ways.
If you’re looking to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows today, you may want to download the patch now, with Ubisoft reporting the sizes of the patch as:
- Xbox Series X|S: 19.5 GB
- PlayStation®5: 11.59 GB
- PC: 16.05 GB
- Steam: 11 GB
- MAC: 9 GB
Gameplay Improvements

As mentioned, many consider Assassin’s Creed Shadows as a franchise high, but it was still missing some features and mechanics that many considered obvious inclusions, even so far as forgetting certain features included in previous installments in the franchise. Thankfully, Title Update 1.0.2 brings some of those on board, finally:
Horse auto-follow and speed improvements – You can now auto-follow a road when riding your horse, meaning you won’t have to navigate whilst keeping your eyes peeled for enemies, and with the speed improvements, you’ll get there quicker too.
Mastery node resetting – You’ll be able to reset the skill points for each of the protagonists now, meaning you’re able to try out multiple playstyles for each of the characters, respeccing them at will.
Selling/dismantling multiple items – No more individually selecting hundreds of pieces of armor, weapons, and items you have no interest in keeping. Tag them and get rid at our nearest merchant or Forge.
Investigation board shortcut – This should have been included at launch, but if you now hold the OPTION button for a few seconds, you’ll go straight to the board. With how often you’re going to use it, this will be a bigger quality-of-life improvement than many realize.

Bug Fixes
There are numerous bug fixes included, but the highlights are:
- Improved Double Assassinations.
- Improved Naoe’s responsiveness in some instances.
- Fixed an issue where an NPC does not die after being killed by a finisher or assassination.
- Naoe can no longer perform Double Assassinations without learning the ability.
- Fixed the FX on the Shinobi Bell when it is thrown far away.
- Fixed an issue where destroying the alarm bell does not always make NPCs investigate it.
- Improved balancing of boss fights.
- Addressed various NPC behavior and animation issues.
- Fixed various bugs related to Transmog variant visuals.
- Corrected an error that blocked manual saves after completing the ‘Heart of an Assassin’ quest.
- Fixed an issue where a “save game” is performed if players are dead or dying.
The full list of bug fixes included in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Title Update 1.0.2 can be found on Ubisoft’s release note page, but with the boss fight balancing being addressed, players should find progression far easier now. Add to that where there’s little chance of the ‘save game’ bug turning up again, players should find Assassin’s Creed Shadows a less frustrating experience at times.
