Are you finding Atomfall difficult? Struggling to find the right weapon or keycard for the situation? How about missing a key recipe? Well, no matter the issue, we have everything answered to dominating the game easier than ever, including some pretty obscure mechanics. In this guide, we’ll run you through the process of upgrading weapons, what to do, where to find it, and the benefits of doing so.
How to Upgrade Weapons in Atomfall
Weapons aren’t as prominent in Atomfall as you may think, and when you find them, they’re usually the same three or four, with the exception of a few hard-to-find rare weapons. That means you’ll have to get used to upgrading the weapons you do have, but the game doesn’t completely explain it.
To upgrade your weapons in the game, you’ll first need to find a Crafting Manual – one can be found in Delta’s Interchange Storage Room -, and make sure you learn it, not just store it in your backpack, the same as the rest of the Training Manuals. Once you’ve learned the manual, you’ll be able to buy the skill ‘Gunsmith’. This will set you back a massive seven Training Stimulants, but it’s worth it.
Now, head over to the Crafting section of the menu, and, assuming you have the right amount of materials – pictured above for the M. 1911 Pistol -, you’ll be able to upgrade any weapons you have in your inventory, by pressing Square/X — now, you have a new recipe for the upgraded version of the weapon, which itself will need to be crafted. Whenever you see scrap, Gun Oil, and other crafting materials, you should ALWAYS pick it up if you can. You never know when it may come in handy.
You’ll definitely want to prioritize upgrading your weapons, as the further you progress, the more difficult the enemies become. With ammo being somewhat scarce, you’ll want to make sure what you’re shooting is being dealt as much damage as possible, and this is where your upgrading comes in.
