The time has come for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile to bid farewell before even the users can welcome it properly. There weren’t many for that. Activision has decided to call it a day for the mobile version of the game that has become a fan favorite. It was launched just over a year ago, on March 21, 2024, and it certainly came with some big expectations from the developers and the players alike. However, Activision has made it clear they weren’t met and now they have removed it from the Google Play Store and the Apple iOS Store, effective May 18, 2025. The company’s statement reads,
We deeply appreciate your dedication and passion for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. Going forward, we will be streamlining the scope of the game. This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors and while we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.

Before the game was simply being promoted, it became Activision’s fastest pre-registered game on the Play Store and saw players spending over a million dollars within the first four days. For now, it’s Call of Duty: Mobile that is likely to see a flux of users leaving Warzone Mobile in the coming days, as servers will stay open for those who still want to stay. Activision Support has given a few answers for a better understanding of what happens after this.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Was a Luxury Not Maintained Well

The mobile game was rife with complaints, from glitches to overheating devices. It was simply too luxurious to maintain, as there were few users who needed it well buttered for a better experience. That’s like maintaining the Grand Budapest Hotel from Wes Anderson’s film of the same name for a handful of guests who can afford it. That hotel at least lived a bit after it was gone to Zero Moustafa. It looks like Xbox didn’t really think it through when it acquired Activision. Now, a part of the video game publisher’s biggest franchise is gone.
At one point, Warzone Mobile had a user rating of 1.8 out of 5 on the Play Store. Not all the devices were able to run it, and the few that did contributed to the poor rating. And now we are unfortunately seeing the mobile shop for Warzone being shut down. It was a good run while it lasted.
