Death Stranding 2 Players Are Delighted at the Return of a Wholesome Feature From the Original Game

It’s safe to say that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is Hideo Kojima at his finest. The sequel to one of 2020’s most unique titles has captivated audiences from around the world, bringing the best of the legendary director’s most ambitious project while making meaningful additions that have elevated the experience it brings to the table.

Sam Porter’s latest adventures bring more than a few familiar faces and new ones to the table, though. The new game brings back a well-hidden feature from the original that may have been overlooked by many of its players.

A Welcome Surprise in Death Stranding 2

Among the many posts praising the new game’s improved combat loop, improved transportation and traversal, and of course, the terrifying new BTs On the Beach has introduced, one Redditor was delighted to find a very wholesome greeting waiting for them when they logged in to play the game on their birthday.

Comments from other players indicate that the original Death Stranding also featured a greeting for players booting up the game on their special day, a wholesome and unexpected addition that would delight any gamer, considering that it hasn’t been done in any other title.

For a game that explores a nuanced and complex take on mortality and legacy, On the Beach featuring a fun and light-hearted greeting for its players is an excellent example of how Kojima is able to break the fourth wall in ways that others can only hope to imitate.

However, the rest of the game may not be as silly, although it has certainly proved to be a refreshing take on the formula that Kojima presented to the world in Death Stranding. With praise pouring in from both critics and players alike, On the Beach is proving to be a fine addition to Kojima Productions’ ranks and a worthy successor to a title that had the gaming world firmly in its grip when it was first introduced.

We can’t wait to see what the studio comes up with next. But until then, there’s a lot to keep us occupied in our quest to add Mexico and Australia to the Chiral Network.
