We recently got the trailer for Resident Evil 9; it’s called Requiem. The trailer also revealed when the game will be arriving, which is on February 6, 2026. So we still have a few months to go. But the people are already hyped up for it. So much so that over a million users have already wishlisted it, as Capcom posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, thanking everyone who is already onboard for the next chapter in the video game franchise.

If we look at the past video games in the series, the sales have gone better with each game following the release. As of this writing, Resident Evil 2‘s remake is currently the best-selling video game in the series, with over 15 million sold, according to data aggregator Statista.

If the pattern continues, we are looking at the next best-selling video game in the franchise. However, it isn’t likely to bring any of the past protagonists into the game. We have a new one, Grace Ashcroft, daughter of an investigative journalist, Alyssa Ashcroft. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, she was a character featured in Resident Evil Outbreak.
Resident Evil 9 takes place after Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

While the upcoming video game will bring a fresh new gameplay into the equation, it is set after the events of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The game’s ending featured a nuclear bomb destroying Raccoon City as Jill Valentine escaped in a helicopter. There are no details on characters from the past returning to the equation; seeing Jill return would be just as refreshing as the upcoming game. Moreover, it is also bringing a new character similar to Mr. X and Lady Dimitrescu, who is likely to be on our character’s tail throughout the game. Although it’s likely to be a monster and not some human-like figure like Mr. X and Lady Dimitrescu.
