The Fantastic Four will finally make their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe later this year in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, this version is not in the same universe as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes that we all grew up with. Regardless of how Marvel’s First Family will interact with the larger shared universe, the filmmakers have their creative reasons for this adaptation.
While the film is still a few months away from release, the marketing has been on point since the first teaser dropped. Marvel Studios would repost a brief clip from the same teaser every week to remind fans of the importance of family, but the most recent post was not just an excellent strategy, but it pretty much confirmed where the team is at during the film.
The Latest The Fantastic Four: First Steps Clip Potentially Confirms a Running Theory
Instead of reposting the same GIF about Reed going on about family dinners, Marvel Studios did something different by posting a brief four-second clip of Johnny telling the couple that they are late. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is still a Marvel film and will contain some light-hearted moments, and it is great to see these characters interact like an actual family.

If you are unaware of why Susan and Reed looked concerned when Johnny called them out for being late, it is because they could have recently discovered Susan’s pregnancy. One of the rumors is that Franklin Richards will be introduced in the film, and he has had a complicated history with Galactus from the source material.
The Birth of Franklin Richards Could Mean the Death of the Fantastic Four’s World
The Fantastic Four are the only heroes roaming the earth in this alternate reality. There are no variants of the Avengers or other enhanced individuals and this could cause problems for the family with the looming threat of Galactus. Franklin’s presence attracts the Devourer of Worlds, due to Galactus’ wish to control and consume Franklin’s powers, and this could encourage Reed to send his family away across the multiverse to save their universe.
The Fantastic Four is a formidable team; however, Galactus’ arrival could push them to the limit. Rumors are circulating that a new trailer will be attached next to the Thunderbolts* and more information about the story will be revealed.
Whether Susan Storm is pregnant, if Franklin makes an appearance, or if that’s the reason behind the First Family making an appearance in the Sacred Timeline for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, will all be revealed once The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases on 25th July, 2025.
