kratos and atreus looking into the distance

God of War Himself Christopher Judge Pulls a 180 “Absolutely not true!!”

God of War fans were punching the air with enthusiasm and excitement after the voice actor recently went live and subtly hinted at new updates for the franchise. In a perfect world, this would have been great news but in reality, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

After the success of God of War Ragnarök and Kratos’ new calling as a reformed god at the end of the Valhalla DLC, fans are eager to see where the developers will take the franchise next. It turns out Judge is in the dark about the future and is waiting on an update like everyone else.

The God of War Wasn’t Teasing a Remake or a Spinoff Project After All

In this day and age, it is easy to misinterpret certain quotes made by popular figures. Christopher Judge was brought in to provide the voice and motion capture for this older and wiser version of Kratos in the Norse Saga, and his endearing performance earned him the respect of the gaming community.

Recently, Judge went live on TikTok and ended his stream as if he was teasing something related to God of War; however, that is not the case. Despite the rumblings of a potential remake of the original trilogy, a new spin-off game, or even the next major sequel, Judge is in the same boat as the fans and has received no updates from the developers regarding his character’s next adventure.

While it would have been nice to hear more updates on the future of God of War, it appears that Judge’s upcoming announcements will be more about him and his future endeavors and are completely unrelated to the beloved franchise. Regardless of what his announcements will be, it is nice to see Judge venture on his own and explore more opportunities.

Some fans will feel cheated; however, it is worth mentioning that Judge didn’t promise anything God of War-related for his announcements. This should be a lesson for fans to keep their expectations low to avoid disappointment.

This doesn’t mean that Christopher Judge will not be reprising his role as Kratos. Perhaps the developers of Santa Monica Studio are actively working on the next major saga. Fans can always revisit the games set in the Norse Saga to witness more of Christopher Judge’s Kratos.
