Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 3 Gets Disastrous Update

A trusted insider claims that the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 3 DLC is dead in the water. Leaks began to surface for the potential roster of new characters joining the Kombat Pack 3 DLC; however, after the lackluster reception of the recent Khaos Reigns expansion, it seems any hope of future expansions or DLCs are all but scrapped altogether.

The Next Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 3 DLC Is as Good as Dead

For one of the most anticipated fighting games in recent years, the player base expected extensive post-launch support with new characters to play with, and this seemingly was NetherRealm Studios’ original plan. Unfortunately, it looks like the game developers have had to cut their losses after the first MK1 DLC was poorly received.

The leaker specified that the poor sales figures of the Khaos Reigns DLC are the main reason behind the developers’ decision to pull the plug on the highly anticipated expansion. The leaker added that the Kombat Pack 3 expansion would have featured a new story expansion and another fighter pass.

It appears that the Khaos Reigns DLC did not land the developers intended causing a chain reaction that altered the future roadmap of Mortal Kombat 1. Perhaps NetherRealm Studios will charge this to experience and move on to worthwhile projects to prevent making the same mistakes.

The quiet cancellation of the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 3 expansion does not mean there will be no more new characters. The leaker suggested that a handful of characters might still see the light of day since the developers had done enough work and were practically ready to be added to the base game but not as part of an expansion.
