The Void, as seen in Thunderbolts*

Marvel and Thunderbolts’ Newest Hero May Be It’s Easiest to Defeat Come Avengers: Doomsday

The Earth now has its team of new mightiest heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, consisting of a bunch of ragtags trying to make something out of their lives. Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, was recently seen changing posters that included a retitle of Thunderbolts, The New Avengers. With them came Bob (Lewis Pullman), aka Sentry, aka the Void, aka their new Superman-like friend who turns on them when sad. Though that turning on thing happens when he is not in control.

Since fans first saw Bob turning into Sentry and fighting the New Avengers, they have been comparing him with characters like Homelander, Omni-Man, and more. They want to know who can defeat him; maybe Saitama, the One Punch Man, should give that a try. But let us tell you something, brothers and sisters: even Hulk Hogan can defeat him. Because all it takes is some kindness to let Bob know that he is not alone.

Thunderbolts Confirmed That Bob Can’t Become Sentry Without Void

There’s a reason that Bob doesn’t want to turn into Sentry. It’s because Sentry comes alongside Void. We can simply say that Void is Bob’s alter ego’s alter ego, and Void is not good for his or anyone else’s mental and physical well-being. In the film, this dark entity feeds on the negative emotions of Bob and then whoever is consumed by his shadow dimension.

It then took a coordinated effort from the Thunderbolts when they all paid a visit to Bob sitting in his Shame Room inside the shadow dimension. That scene hits right at the heart and can make anyone sad when they see the things Bob had to go through during his childhood. Nobody cared for him, and Void kept telling him this to keep the domination. But thanks to his new friends, who made sure that they were there for him. Within seconds, Void was gone, just like that.

This Can be a Serious Issue in Avengers: Doomsday

It’s well established now that the New Avengers and Bob will play a huge role in Avengers: Doomsday. And Sentry, who is stronger than all the original Avengers pulled together, is going to be among the strongest arms when many teams of superheroes come together to stand against the new multiversal threat. But that strongest arm is the easiest to defeat, for all one needs is to step into that shadow dimension, which is nothing but an illusion. But for that, someone needs to trigger the emergence of the Void, like Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan) inadvertently did by using that failsafe killswitch first.

We can’t say how that will happen but we have one super intelligent fella like Doctor Doom in the film; he can find a way. And when it happens, all it takes for him, or anyone who succeeds in triggering Void, is to step into the darkness, find Bob in his Shame Room, and convince him that he/she is there for him and he is not alone. Void will vanish, and so will Sentry with it. Bob won’t even remember.

Mental Health Issues Can Make a Person Really Vulnerable

With this, we also want to deliver a message, like Thunderbolts does, to all that people dealing with mental health issues can be vulnerable. The problem is, there are both good and bad people with us. While it’s a cherry on the top when the former ones are there, they come with genuine intentions to help. But when it comes to the latter ones, they can be real manipulative if they see a benefit coming out of a Bob. And Bobs are easily convinced, as we saw Valentina was quite easily able to do that. Let’s not be Valentinas of the world but the Thunderbolts, who are actually there for Bob.
