Metal Eden, the upcoming FPS from RUINER creators Reikon Games, launched its free demo today on all platforms, but there’s a big twist involved, and it couldn’t be better. An indie developer comprised of industry vets from RPG powerhouses CD Projekt Red and Techland, it’s a studio determined to push boundaries, and they may well have done it with the latest Metal Eden news.
In a time when game demos are making an incredible comeback (see the likes of Stellar Blade for example), Reikon Games are going one better with a new partnership and competition with speedrun.com, highlighting Metal Eden‘s biggest attributes.
Metal Eden Demo Does More Than Give You a Taste

Metal Eden‘s demo is long overdue, and will give many fans/players a chance to experience the first two levels of the game absolutely free. If you’d ever asked what you’d get if you combined Doom’s frenetic and hectic FPS gunplay with the parkour of games like Mirror’s Edge or Ghostrunner, you’d end up with Metal Eden.
Fast-paced, cybernetic warfare awaits anyone who thinks they’re good enough, but beneath that, you’ll have the story of ASKA, an advanced Hyper Unit sent on a mission to rescue the digital ‘Cores’ of the remaining human colonists from mysterious entities known as Engineers.
All this is teased in the opening levels of Metal Eden, and now, with the demo and speedrunning partnership, Reikon Games are offering the lucky winner of the competition $1,000, and all you need to do to win is be one of the fastest demo completion times! Not only does that mean you’ll be getting a taste of the game for free, but you may well get paid for it too!
If you’re worried about missing out, don’t worry, as the demo is available right now, for an ‘unlimited period’ on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as we speak. Metal Eden is set for release on May 6th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
