Mortal Shell 2 took the world by storm when it released two months ago, with rave reviews across most outlets, including our own. At the time, players wondered why we hadn’t gotten a Photo Mode in the game, especially considering the beautiful vistas and chaotic combat encounters it offered. Thankfully, Playstack have remedied that, with it being included in the Rotten Autumn update available right now!

The Rotten Autumn update includes:

  • Photo Mode: Capture your journey through the dark fantasy world of Mortal Shell 2.
  • 15 new dungeons: Venture deeper into the world with new locations to explore.
  • Alternative soundtrack: Experience a new soundtrack by Rotting Christ’s Sakis Tolis.
  • New Shell Shades: Discover new looks for every Shell.
  • 10 new Tarstones: Expand your options, including a sheep-specific Tarstone.
  • New visual settings: New lighting presets for Nightmode and Overkill graphics settings.
  • Seasonal treats: The Harbinger Pumpkin Helmet, Impervious Lute skin, additional lute tracks, and a ghostly encounter with a lost Shell.
  • Additional polish and bug fixes.

Not only is there now Photo Mode included in Mortal Shell 2, but a huge 15 new dungeons on offer for players to explore and beat. While there’s no new weapons or Shells as of yet, with them likely to come in the future, it’s good to see such a massive update of one of 2026’s biggest games coming, with Playstack clearly not willing to rest on their laurels.
