Omega 6 The Triangle Stars Review (Switch) – A Space Adventure Like No Other

Omega 6 The Triangle Stars Review (Switch) – A Space Adventure Like No Other

Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is an interesting video game that has come from the mind of Takaya Imamura, and those who are fans of Nintendo’s history will likely know that name very well.

However, after 32 years of working for Nintendo and working under Shigeru Miyamoto himself, Takaya Imamura began working on his project Omega 6 The Triangle Stars. Starting as a Manga, Takaya created Omega 6 and eventually began creating an adaptation of the Manga into a 16-bit Retro-Styled Adventure game. Now it is finally here, and we had the chance to review it and see whether or not it lives up to the Takaya Imamura name.

A Story Full of Intergalactic Debts and Ultimate Treasures

When you think about a game that has been developed by the same person who introduced Tingle into the Zelda universe, you will understandably think that this title will have a reasonable amount of weirdness, and you would be right.

Whether it be the story that tasks the player with venturing to three different planets in an attempt to discover a lost ultimate treasure in an attempt to settle a debt that involves paying off a planetary loan as the characters Thunder and Kyla attempt to discover a new planet for the human race to inhabit or whether it be the numerous eccentric characters that are full of sarcastic comments, bizarre quests, and meta comments, there is plenty to discover and giggle at within Omega 6 The Triangle Stars.

Even though Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is set over three planets with plenty to explore, the game itself will make sure that you explore each location to its fullest extent. Whether you have managed to acquire items earlier than expected or figured it out on your own, the game will still expect you to exhaust all the necessary dialogue from every character and explore every location necessary to ensure that you know what you are intended to do. This may seem appropriate, but it can cause a drain on the player as there is barely any freedom in terms of the story as the game forcibly locks you in locations until you do what is needed.

Along with the unique universe Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is set in, there is also the combat system that players will have to grow accustomed to, as it will task players with battling all kinds of creatures, treasure hunters, and more in a bout of rock, paper, and scissors. This may sound simple, but this is by far one of the hardest parts of the game, as each battle is entirely random, with the pace of the battle changing every second depending on the decision the player makes as well as the items they use to turn the battle in their favor.

Unfortunately, due to this combat system, it did tend to get quite boring very quickly as each combat encounter slowly became irritating as some enemies were randomly strong and would potentially defeat the player in one attack, or in some cases be so easy that they would be defeated in one attack. In some cases, the only time the player would actively get a fair fight would be with characters who could arguably be described as bosses, and even in those situations there was the potential to skip the battle entirely using special fruit-based powerups that could aid the player in battle.

Is Omega 6 The Triangle Stars a Worthy Adaptation of Its Manga Counterpart?

In terms of story, Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is a worthy counterpart to the original Manga that it is connected to, as the game itself follows a completely different story from the manga but contains some of the same story aspects that make Omega 6 so interesting to begin with.

If you are looking for a wide array of locations to explore with interesting characters to meet, then Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is the game for you, as there are plenty of unique characters that you can meet and in some cases, battle as you explore a colorful and vibrant universe that is full of mystery and puzzles that will have you exploring every inch of the planets you explore whether you want to or not.

Sadly, the main part of the game that falls flat is the RPS combat system that the game employs. Even though this system is unique and works well with the universe that it is being used in, it sadly just becomes dull very quickly, whether you are winning or losing.

Although this is a very minor complaint and doesn’t exactly ruin the experience, it would be an error on my behalf to neglect to mention that there are moments within the game where the writing does make a few mistakes, whether it be incorrect spelling, missing or incorrect words, or just lazy writing, that leads to a few errors in terms of gameplay, such as the game telling the player to go to a certain location and then you head to that location and find out it is the wrong location, or you are required to go to another location beforehand which the game hasn’t informed you about.
