The Studio

The Studio Has Apple TV Going Meta With Seth Rogen Led All Star Cast

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg surprise audiences with the trailer for a new series called The Studio. Rogen portrays Matt, a producer who initially harbored lofty aspirations for the industry, but upon attaining success, he finds himself compelled to undermine it. This portrays a clear meta-idea about the current state of the movie industry.

What is The Studio?

The series will feature incredible cameos, including Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, and other big names like Bryan Cranston. All these characters will demonstrate how Hollywood is in decline. What’s most curious is that the series will stream exclusively on Apple TV+, which remains one of the least-watched streaming services, with the smallest streaming share.

Lionsgate Television will fully produce the show, which will air on this streaming platform. The Studio will have a total of 10 episodes, with the first two premiering on March 26, 2025. Beyond the cameos, the cast will include spectacular names alongside Seth Rogen, such as Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders.

Rogen and Goldberg will serve as directors in The Studio, in addition to their roles as executive producers. Point Grey Pictures, a joint venture between Rogen and Goldberg, is producing the series. Rogen has been producing several projects that are more personal for him. The last big project was the animated movie of the Ninja Turtles, which premiered last year.

One of the unique aspects of this original series, apart from showcasing the current state of the industry, is how The Studio pays homage to what was known as Hollywood’s golden age in the 1960s. This is evident in the use of music and the visual treatment, which show that the series aims to honor this era of cinema. This particular period stood out for its fast pace, with Hollywood relying entirely on its biggest stars to make a movie a success at the box office.

So far, fans seem excited about the prospect of a new television show set around this era, with one X (formerly known as Twitter) exclaiming “Holyshit. This looks great. That casts lineup? Wow” and some clearly happy with the recent Wandavision spin-off Agatha All Along as they declare their intent to watch based purely on Kathryn Hahn’s inclusion.

This 1960s-inspired theme will also help the audience understand how today’s Hollywood is no longer reliant on the power of stars. Currently, the industry has been unable to depend on any major actor or actress to fill theaters.
