Neil Druckmann’s Latest The Last of Us Part 3 Comments May Be His Biggest Mic Drop Moment Yet

It feels like something of an open secret at this stage. It’s not a matter of ‘if’ we’re getting The Last of Us Part 3, but ‘when’ we’re getting it. Or is it? After Neil Druckmann’s latest comments in an interview with Variety about HBO’s The Last of Us Season Two, it may not be the slam dunk we all think.

Neil Druckmann Says What?

During his promotional tour for The Last of Us Season Two, Druckmann went through the paces, describing and detailing various scenes that’d make the cut, and hinting at those that wouldn’t. He mentioned the response to the second game, and how that came at a time where they (Druckmann and Craig Mazin) were developing the HBO show, and of course he was asked, and subsequently addressed the chances of The Last of Us Part 3.

Everyone would understandably be expecting a noncommittal answer, but a positive one, after his comments about the story of the third game during the Grounded documentary last year, but that’s seemingly not what he wanted to do:

“I was waiting for this question. I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

Previously Druckmann has been very cagey about The Last of Us Part 3, so this is definitely a different, if not possible annoyed approach. For anyone with both The Last of Us HBO show and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet on the horizon, it must get tiring to be questioned on something that’s not even been announced.
