One of the primary antagonists of Marvel’s Wolverine, Deathstrike is a villain with a real hatred for our titular character. As such, you’re going to have several run-ins with her throughout the story, but only one opportunity to take your anger out on her. During the mission Death March, at the end of a long period in Japan, you’ll have to fight and kill Deathstrike. However, she’s no easy boss to fight, so by the end of this guide, we’ll have you up to speed on exactly how to beat Deathstrike in Marvel’s Wolverine.

How to Beat Deathstrike in Marvel’s Wolverine

The fight against Deathstrike, similar to that of both Omega Red and the Sentinel Prototype, takes place over two phases and two separate environments. The first, that takes place in the Ritual room itself and is far harder than that of the second phase, but we’ll come to that.

The fight will open with Deathstrike relying heavily on her purple sword, sending shockwave after shockwave at you, and slashing at you in unparryable attacks. You need to make sure you’re dodging the vertical, purple waves as she sends them your way, and reflecting the golden, horizontal waves when they come. She will sometimes reflect your own reflection back, and you’ll be playing a poor version of tennis temporarily, but be on your guard. When the golden wave does hit her, now is your time to attack.

You’ll want to use your Special Abilities as and when you can. I focused on using drill, which by this point was levelled up to its max, meaning I could drill Deathstrike three times in quick succession, and the same with Tornado Spin. These two did good damage to her. The other reason to ensure you parry her golden waves back is that it will build her stagger meter, and then you’ll be able to really do some damage to her.

Her main attacks to worry about are the waves already mentioned, her jumping into the air and bombing down on top of you, and then exploding; a ranged attack she does, which peppers the floor with items beneath your feet, so dodge quickly when that happens.

If you’re not confident dodging or parrying, you will struggle a little, but be sure to make use of the newly acquired ‘Helix Claws’, which will send your own shockwave out and interrupt any of her attacks, which can provide you with a few seconds of solace to get a little health back, or just attack her at will.

Through all that, if you manage to get her to half health, the second phase will begin. You’ll leave the Ritual room and end up outside. Unfortunately for Logan, the opening moments of phase two start with you being burned alive, similar to Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars, but as the fight begins again, you’ll now notice the sword is gone, and your job is infinitely easier.

You won’t need to worry about her wave attacks anymore, with her instead having to fight with her claws. The majority of these attacks are now parryable, and she’ll also throw in a Reckless attack every now and then, meaning you’ll be able to stun her more easily and do massive damage in the process.

Make sure to keep up with using your Special Abilities, and avoid the new move she does, where she runs backwards and forwards like the Flash, before attacking you in the blink of an eye. She doesn’t let up in this phase, and will quickly take chunks out of your health if you’re not ready for it. Parry, dodge, attack. Do whatever is necessary to win the fight.

A useful tip for both phases is to use Wolverine’s Lunge attack with Triangle, as that’ll cover great distances and allow you to almost stunlock her, especially in the second phase. Do be careful not to lunge into her combos, though, as that’ll cost you. Once you get her to zero health, you’ll see a particularly brutal cutscene follow, and now you know exactly how to beat Deathstrike in Marvel’s Wolverine!
