Hellraiser: Revival is the first Hellraiser game ever. For such a storied horror franchise, that is a big surprise, although maybe less so when you consider the themes and content of the franchise. Arguably as iconic as Michael’s boiler suit, Freddy’s glove, or Jason’s mask, the Lament Configuration Box is a big part of Hellraiser, and using it in the game can prove tricky, if you’re not fully aware of how. This guide will help you with the finer points.
How to Use the Lament Configuration Box in Hellraiser: Revival Properly
The Lament Configuration Box in Hellraiser: Revival is one of the primary tools you’ll use throughout your journey through hell to save Aiden’s partner, Sunny. Whereas you’ll use all manner of guns to damage those trying to stop you, the Lament Configuration Box is as much a puzzle solving tool as it is a weapon, and deploying it properly is essential.
As you progress through the world of Hellraiser: Revival, there will be moments you need the Box to progress. Whether it’s moving a piece of the environment, or taking fire from one switch to the next, you’ll need to pay attention. To use the Box, you’ll need to hit L1/LB to bring the box out, and interact with whatever you’re aiming at.
One click and you're done. Thank you!
When it comes to environments, like moving platforms for example, keep hold of the button to keep it engaged, and use the right thumbstick to move the platform. This can be a little delicate, and isn’t the most responsive of mechanics, so be patient and move it slowly.

Similarly, when trying to open a door, activate a platform or something else along those lines, you may need to move an element like fire from point A to B. This is as simple as pressing L1/LB whilst aiming at the element in question. It’ll zip to the Lament Configuration Box, and you can move freely with it contained. Once you’re where you need to be, press it again and the element will fly where you’re aiming.
Telekinesis Ability
This can also be extended to items in the environment during combat. Using the Box can allow you to get the upper hand in combat, albeit you’ll need to be quick in practice. A personal favourite was the circular saw that could be used to cut in half any encroaching enemies, when thrown hard enough at them.
There’s a lot to the Lament Configuration Box, and a lot to get your head around, but in essence, always be ready to tap L1/LB and don’t get too squeamish about the results. It’s an integral part of Hellraiser: Revival, whether in combat or puzzle-solving, so understanding how to use the Lament Configuration Box is imperative. You’ll make good use of the puzzle-solving aspects when exploring and attempting to escape the Labyrinth, while the combat aspects come into play in the real world, be it crowd control with the weapons strewn around, or using fire etc against some of the bosses.
Either way, mastering the Lament Configuration Box will take time, but it never gets boring, and after a few hours with it, it’ll be like an extension of yourself, to the point when you lose it in the story, you’ll feel as if you’re only half a person.
