As you venture through the game world of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, you will eventually find yourself accessing a metronome, where you will be taken to a new location where you will have a puzzle to solve in order to fully unlock a new ability known as Retrocognition.
How to Solve the Retrocognition Puzzle in Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy
As we have said above, once you manage to solve the music box puzzle that leads you to this metronome, you will now be able to enter this strange location, which is a twisted memory of a convent that is covered in flowers, vines, and horrifying visages.
You will remember this location from the early sections of the game when you first go there and witness the Red Nun eating a lamb, but this time you have returned with new powers and a few changes to your environment.
As you are exploring this location, you will learn about your new ability known as Retrocognition, where you can now find items in the game world and focus on them, revealing new information through the memories that are attached to said items.
By doing this, most of the time you will only uncover pieces of background lore from the game, but there are cases where you will uncover details that will aid you in your quest.
How to Find the Retrocognition Puzzle
While you are exploring this location, you will come across a few instances where the Retrocognition ability will be used to aid you in moving forward, as well as a door that has been sealed by mysterious vines that you need to remove to progress forward. For example, when you are out in the hallway, you will be able to reveal a message on a table by focusing on a mask that will provide information about the past events that took place in the convent.
After seeing this, you will now be able to head back the way you came until you see a portrait of nuns, which has now been slightly knocked off its hook, and the nuns all have red X’s on their faces, bar one.
As you interact with this picture, you will be able to take another glimpse into the past through your new ability once you remove the picture, as well as gain a bottle of some form of acid which you can use to move forward in this area.
Now you have acquired the bottle of acid; you can now remove the vines and move forward in this area, which will guide you to the Retrocognition puzzle that you can now solve and progress through.
How to Solve the Retrocognition Puzzle
Once you arrive in this room, you will be introduced to a large puzzle on the wall, which is filled with rotating pillars that each have symbols on them.
To activate this puzzle, you will need to interact with a pedestal that has a book on it that you can use your Retrocognition ability on to hear the riddle to the puzzle.
Now we won’t bore you with the riddle, as you already have it in front of you in speech form and subtitles, but we can provide you with the simple solution to solve said riddle.

As a fair warning, to solve this puzzle, you simply need to press the buttons on the pictures you want it to stop on; the buttons do not move the pillars around – they are automatic. The buttons are simply there to stop them in place.
Starting from the left, you will want to stop the pillars on the Woman in the first position, the Snake in the second, the Skeleton in the third, and finally, the Heart in the fourth.
After you stop the final pillar in place, you will have completed the puzzle and will now be able to continue the game’s story with this new ability that can reveal so many new pieces of information in the game world.
