Infinity Ward will step on the Korean Peninsula for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the latest game in the long-running military shooter series. Three game modes will be there: campaign, multiplayer, and DMZ.
Though you’ll miss the face of Soap MacTavish, whom Makarov shot in the head last time they met. Makarov is still in the game, but he won’t likely be the main antagonist after the game’s trailer revealed Mad Mikkelsen playing a villain called ‘The Archer.’
One click and you're done. Thank you!
You’ll be playing it in just a few days, so let’s see what we know about it.
Release Date and Platforms

The full-scale release of the game is happening on October 23rd That will include all three modes in it. But if you pre-order it, you can access the campaign and open beta starting October 16th.
Whichever edition you choose, you can play the game on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It won’t be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so upgrade your hardware if you haven’t already.
Game Modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Campaign

This time, the focus is on the Korean war. South Korean marine Private Park Hyun-Jun and his squadmates will fight to keep their home safe from the Korean People’s Army. Some US marines will tag along in this too. On the other side, John Price will be the focus. He is an outlaw now after he murdered General Shepherd in the last game. He is trying to move a weapon of war, which Kate Laswell is concerned can fall into wrong hands.
By “wrong hands” mean in the hands of a new villain called the Archer. That sexy Mads Mikkelsen is portraying the character, and we know almost nothing about him. Only the fact that he is exacting revenge from Price over some matter. Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley and Kyle Garrick are reluctantly hunting Price too. Orders from the above.
Multiplayer

Currently, you get to play seven modes touted to be included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 when it releases.
- A 6v6 Team Deathmatch will see two teams killing their rivals to reach a set score of kills first to win the match.
- New game mode called Hijack will require teams to plant Data Spikes in the rivals’ area and watch it explode. The rivals will, of course, need to defuse it to win. It’s sort of like the iconic Search and Destroy, which is also a mode in the game.
- Another iconic game mode here is Domination, where you need to capture regions assigned like A, B, and C to reach a certain score before the rivals do.
- Hardpoint is here too. It’s similar to Domination, but the location that a team needs to capture keeps jumping, so the squad needs to move to that point.
- Kill Confirmed is back. Here, you don’t just have to kill but also collect the shiny dog tag your kill left for you, or the kill won’t count.
- Inflation is another new game mode, inspired by capitalism. You collect cash, and the more you have on you, the bigger target you’ll become. Elon Musk should avoid playing this.
Lastly, the prestige system returns in the Call of Duty game. You have two options: regular prestige and classic prestige. To explain them in simple terms, regular prestige will let you keep all of your Create-a-Class progression rewards when restarting, and classic prestige will take everything away, and you’ll have to start from ground zero.
DMZ

Think of DMZ as another campaign that is taking place after the game’s main story concludes. A nuclear meltdown has happened after the events of the game, and now you are in a different world, something that’ll remind you of Escape from Tarkov and Metro games. There are no unnaturally mutated creatures here, so just worry about the combat with regular soldiers who can still think.
You will effectively manage a base, managing all sorts of upgrades on your operators and equipment. You live in a Forward Operating Base (FOB) and enter the Exclusion Zone for tasks and missions. There’s a level of progression between Level 1 and Level 70, so you are in DMZ way long after enjoying the campaign story.
Trailers
If you search for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 trailers on YouTube, there are plenty of them. An official campaign trailer will give a look at the main story, and a narrative trailer will walk you back to a recap in case you forgot what happened last that made Price a fugitive and stuff.
The multiplayer trailer shows all sorts of gameplay mechanics, score streaks, maps, and everything you can expect in it.
For DMZ, there are currently three trailers because the mode was reimagined, and you’ll need a good watch to understand what’s going on with this new place called Hajin. Everyone needs preparation to walk into unknown lands full of dangers.
