Are you looking for a horror game to jump into during the Halloween period or just for some amazing spookiness? Then look no further than Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy. Whether it is the dark atmosphere filled with flickering lights, locations to hide in with small cracks to view from, or the haunting enemies that hunt you down while also enacting some rather uncomfortable scenarios.
Although the horror genre often has similar mechanics that can be easily transferred over, there are some circumstances within Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy that you won’t be used to so we are here to help you with a few tips and tricks that will make your horror experience much easier and more fun.
Play in the Dark with Headphones
Now, this tip isn’t exactly to help you progress in the game but is instead a tip on how to best enjoy the game, and that is by playing in the dark with headphones on, as this completely changes the atmosphere of the game and makes it entirely different than if you were sat in the light using the speakers for sound.
Although the game does suggest this form of playing the game, we would like to second the suggestion, as the atmosphere of the game leans toward being rather dark with only a few sources of light, especially when the lights go out in the game, making it even darker, so being able to feel that atmosphere in the real world completely changes the tone of the game.
Stealth Is Important, Don’t Rush

During the beginning sections of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, you will first be introduced to the game by having a bit of free will to roam around the Ashmann Villa without any risk of being harmed until a certain part of the game where the Novices are introduced, and you will likely get used to running around like a mad person.
Even though you have the freedom to continue running around the game, once these enemies have been showcased, do not continue to run around, as this is what will cause you to constantly be attacked and chased, which will slow you down in completing the puzzles that are hidden throughout the game.
However, there is a counter to this, as there are instances where the Novices will be on the other side of the building from where you want to be, so you do have some freedom to sprint around, but you don’t want to constantly run around and give away your position.
Turn Your Torch Off
While exploring the world of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, you will have to sneak around the dark halls of a villa, especially when the lights go out. So sometimes your only source of light will be the torch that you can turn on and off so that you can see what is going on around you, but this isn’t always the best option.
The reason this can be a risk to you is that the enemies that are lurking around the game will be able to see your light and be able to track you down using it, so you will need to make sure that if an enemy is nearby, you turn your light off as quickly as you can.
This doesn’t just mean when the enemy is right in front of you, as there are situations where an enemy is upstairs and can see your light from the floor below and will begin to head down there to find you, so the second you hear an enemy, it may be a hard choice between seeing where you are going or being found, but trust me, being found is worse than stumbling around in the dark.
Don’t Rush to Hide
A big part of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy is avoiding the Novices through various methods, one of these methods being the ability to hide under certain benches and inside cupboards, but there is always a risk in doing this.
The major risk when hiding in these spots is that the Novices are chasing you, as you need to get a bit of distance between you and them before you begin hiding. You cannot just simply break line of sight and then hide, as the Novices use an intelligent system that has them predict where you would hide when entering a room and how long they have lost line of sight with you.
So, in other words, if you enter a room and instantly hide in a cupboard, the Novices will be smart enough to check there first rather than just running straight into the room and then wandering around looking for you. However, there are some rare cases where they will investigate these hiding places, initiating a minigame known as the Close Call, which you can complete, allowing you to stay hidden from the enemy.
Use Your Items Sparingly, But Don’t Hoard

Throughout Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, you will be able to find various items throughout the game that can aid you in surviving this harsh game. Whether it be the weapons you can use to fight back, the distraction items you can throw to draw enemies out or even hit them, break-out items that you can use to instantly escape a grab attack from an enemy, melee weapons that can stun enemies if you hit them first, and finally healing items that can bring your health back when you are weakened.
Each of these items has a very important use, and they can be found quite often, with nearly every main room having at least one of each item hidden somewhere within that you can collect, and you can even carry 4 items with you, so if you specifically like one of these methods, you can carry around what you like and have spares for later use.
However, just because you can carry around plenty of items doesn’t mean you should be resistant to using them; as we say, they can be found absolutely everywhere, and if you are careful while exploring, you likely won’t even use these items anyway.
Unlock All The Doors, and Unlock Them Again
As you venture around the Ashmann Villa, you will often come across locked doors, whether they be locked by a key, locked by the fact that you need to go to the other side first and open them, or even locked by some mystery you haven’t solved yet. Once you open these doors, you will now have a nice path around the game world that you can use to help avoid enemies and enter locations through shortcuts and such later on in the game.
However, as you progress through Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, you will eventually get far enough in the story that the Novices will eventually start locking doors behind you to force you to continue the story and into certain scenarios like jump scares and being chased.
After this happens and you manage to get freedom from these sections, you will then need to go back and unlock all the doors they have unlocked if you want to make sure you have a reasonable number of escape hatches from certain rooms.
Read Everything as it Might Be Important
In a game like Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, there is a lot of story to uncover, whether it be through the dialogue, the cutscenes, or the location itself, but one key factor in a game like this is the notes that are left behind and the clues scattered around the game world.
Although reading every note isn’t what some people may enjoy, in Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, reading is a pretty vital concept in the game, as solving puzzles and progressing through the game often requires you to look at different items in the game and try to piece together the information so you can move on with the game.
Sometimes it can be just as simple as you need to find one note that tells you where to go to progress in a puzzle that takes place throughout the mansion, and you won’t be able to find that note unless you read everything, so it’s better to look first than struggle to look later.
