Stupid Never Dies is starting to pick up the pace at this point. You’ll have well and truly finished the tutorial, made your way through all the mechanics, met the Phoenix, beaten Surtr R.S, and now be on your way to trying to find a cure for Julia’s ailment.

And then enters Count Vlad, the latest enemy unhappy with your presence in the dungeon. If you’re here, you’re likely struggling with how to beat Count Vlad in Stupid Never Dies, but don’t worry, by the end of this guide, you’ll know everything you need to.

How to Beat Count Vlad in Stupid Never Dies

As already mentioned, Count Vlad is another Elite enemy you’ll need to beat before you get to KOM, and thankfully, in my opinion at least, he’s easier than Surtr R.S. He’s a vampire, a shocking revelation with that name, but doesn’t really do much to warrant the title.

When the fight opens, you’re going to need to go on the offensive. He’s quick, but he’s relatively weak, so heavy hitting Styles are the best here. I went for Cyclops and Werewolf, thanks to the clubbing attacks of the Cyclops doing huge damage (in part thanks to the damage receipts I chose earlier in my run), and the quickness of the Werewolf allowing me to move out of the way of Count Vlad’s attacks, which were few and far between, in fairness.

Keep up the dominance in your attacks, not letting him breath. The arena is quite small, and if you can use the Cyclops to trap him between you and a wall, you’ll be able to get in some extra hits before he escapes. It’s worth noting I was using Davy’s Vomit skill when Count Vlad stood still to poison him, and along with my Werewolf’s Dance of Death, and Cyclops’ Savage Swing skills, his health disappeared quickly.

Once you get him to half health, he will shroud the arena in darkness, save a small circle around he and you. This changes very little, as you can see him and yourself enough to continue the attack, so don’t be dissuaded when he does this. The main points to keep in mind are the obvious ones.

  • Don’t stop attacking. Make use of Davy’s Bite, as that’ll cause big damage.
  • Switch between your Styles as you see fit.
  • Don’t forget to use your skills.
  • Always keep moving.
  • Stupid Parry only yellow attacks.

Once his health drops to zero, or near zero, you’ll be interrupted with a cutscene. Don’t worry, the boss fight is over and there’s no second phase of Count Vlad.

In fact, someone much bigger and badder appears in Duke Dragul (Dracula). Unhappy with Count Vlad’s performance against a ‘lowly zombie’, he kills him and removes him from the playing field, and as such, the fight is over.

After the cutscene ends and Duke Dragul departs, the Doc will appear telling you to bring back some of Count Vlad’s blood, as it may help revive Julia. You’ll then get the Bring Back Some of that Blood trophy for defeating Count Vlad, and be one step closer to KOM. But yeah, now you’ve done it, you know how to beat Count Vlad in Stupid Never Dies!
