Stupid Never Dies is a weird game in the best ways, and nothing encapsulates that more than the mission to find, and then fight, Everent. A sentient tree in the same vein as The Lord of the Rings’ Ents, he’s supposed to be helping you when you find him, but unfortunately, he has other ideas.
If you’re here, you’re likely struggling with him, but don’t worry, by the end of the guide we’ll walk you through everything you need to know so you can easily beat Everent in Stupid Never Dies.
How to Beat Everent in Stupid Never Dies
You’ve just spent your time working through multiple dungeons, returning, levelling up, and then doing it all again, all in the hope of reviving Julia. That’s now done, or half done at least, and now you need to go back into the dungeons, to the deepest layer you’ve ever been to, to find Everent, for another Julia-related reason. Well, it’s not easy, but it is possible. You’ll be heading all the way to Layer 21 to find the sentient tree, and you’ll encounter almost every Style the game has to offer on the way.
Once you make it down to Layer 21 though, a brief cutscene will happen, and then Everent will lash out at you, attacking you seemingly out of nowhere. This is effectively the game’s version of the Lion and the thorn, but first you have to beat him to be able to help him.
This boss fight against Everent may seem a little effusive and obscure, but once you figure it out, it’s ridiculously simple. The opening moments will see Everent thrash around, as three trees appear directly in front of him, with poisonous and sharp thorns surrounding them.

Wait a second before you approach though, as there will be giant balls that drop from his upper branches, and these can kill you quite quickly, regardless of your level. Talking of which, if you want to make your life easier, aim for 80+. Any lower and you’ll unnecessarily struggle.
Take note of the rhythm and direction of the balls, and then head into between where they fall and attack the trees. Focus on one at a time, and make good use of your Style skill of yourself and your two Styles. By this level you’ll be doing massive damage with them, and if, like me, you have the circular saw body hack that spins around you, activate it as soon as you’re close to a tree.
You’ll also want to periodically jump and attack the trees, rather than standing on the floor constantly, as those poisonous and sharp thorns I mentioned will sap your health quickly if you’re not paying full attention. After you’ve killed the three trees, they will all disappear, the balls will stop falling from the upper branches, and the thorns will evaporate. Now is your opportunity to attack Everent. Make sure you use all your high-power attacks now, including any regenerated Style skills or bites.
You might be quick enough to one shot him in this section, but more than likely he’ll enter phase two of the fight. In structure, this is identical to the first phase, and you’ll want to follow the same method. The thorns and trees will move location however, and instead of being in front of Everent, they will branch out from him.
You’ll have to jump over the rows of thorns to move between the trees, but unlike the first phase, there’s no need to worry about getting hurt from the thorns as you attack the trees. Instead, Everent will have spawned several Harpy’s, which I suggest you get rid of straight away, otherwise they’ll pester you.
Once you’ve gotten rid of the three trees for the second and last time, head forwards to Everent and resume your attacks. Use any Davy Burst charges, bites and Style skills you have available, and you’ll quickly end the second phase, and the fight itself, with Everent.
A cut scene will play out, and Everent will reveal he’s been under the spell of what amounts to be the next general you’ll be fighting, and he’ll explain a few important bits of information to you, before an awful event occurs. After this, you’ll get the trophy Forgive Me For Attacking You, and now you know the easiest, quickest, and simplest way for you to beat Everent in Stupid Never Dies.
