One click and you're done. Thank you!
While venturing through the dark world of Valor Mortis, you will have managed to obtain plenty of skills and abilities that make the game easier, but one ability eludes you right to the bitter end, and that is the Shield Transmutation. Unlike the other transmutations, like the fire or stasis transmutations, this one hides itself in Chapter 9 and opens so many paths both ahead of you and behind you, so make sure you do some running back before you finish the game.
How to Get the Shield Transmutation in Valor Mortis

As we have said above, the first thing you will need to do in Valor Mortis to even get close to the Shield Transmutation is to head to Chapter 9 within the game, known as the University, as this is where the ability will be hidden.
While you are exploring the University, you will need to have explored a large portion of the beginning area, which is all contained to the first lantern rest spot but has numerous pathways branching out from this rest spot.
The first thing you will want to do is progress far enough that you will have opened a majority of the shortcuts back to the main hall and have managed to be blocked by the poisonous liquid that brings you into the large courtyard at the back of the University, as this is the indicator you are near the location of the Shield Transmutation.
As you are exploring the University, you will eventually get to a section of the game where poison will become very common, with a hallway being inflicted with poison and the opportunity to lower a chandelier to provide you a path over a gap. After using the chandelier, you will eventually come up to an elevator, which again has a path to the right filled with more poison and a path to the left which leads you to the second shortcut back to the main hall and the lantern rest spot.
Once you open this shortcut, you can now head up the elevator, and you will have a small amount of running to do before you come up to a large room with the telltale fleshy tendrils and dead body on a platform high up. After you head up the stairs and access this dead body like the rest, you will now gain the Shield Transmutation ability.
Now this Transmutation does exactly what it says; it allows you to generate a shield around yourself and even allows you to wander through the poisonous liquid without having a buildup of the status effect, giving you new exploration opportunities.
Along with this, you can obviously use it in combat to protect yourself and even reflect attacks and even bullets once it is levelled up enough, giving you a lot of protection for a high cost of Nephtoglobin.
Finally, you have now obtained all of the abilities you can acquire within Valor Mortis, along with all the weapons you can use, so you can rest easy knowing the game has nothing more to hide from you in terms of attack or defence.
