How to Complete the Misericorde Side Quest in Valor Mortis

In the middle of the city in Chapter VIII of Valor Mortis, you’ll find a very complicated decision to make during a side quest. You need to choose whether to give a suffering man the possibility of ending his life and, with it, the torment he is going through. This is not that unusual for Valor Mortis, as the game has already made you make very difficult choices in other side quests, for example the Laudanum Quest earlier in the game.

How to Complete the Misericorde Side Quest in Valor Mortis

After the second fast travel point you unlock in Chapter VIII of Valor Mortis, you’ll see a man who has been impaled, with barbed wire around his face. Once you interact with him, he’ll ask you if you can put him out of his misery. This is the beginning of the Misericorde Side Quest in Valor Mortis. You’ll need to look for a way to end his life, and you can shoot him with your pistol, Blunderbuss, or any other weapon you may have, or cut him with your sword.

First though, this man is infected with the plague, so to kill him, you first need to destroy the source of the plague located at the top of the building to his right. Just to the right, a couple of boxes are blocking the door. You need to break these boxes, enter the building, and start looking for a way to go up.

Going Up

Once you enter the building, you’ll see a bug that will attack you and another enemy on the wall that will spit at you without a doubt. Go left, and you’ll find stairs to reach the first floor of the building. On the second floor, after going up the stairs, you’ll encounter another spitting enemy by turning right. Kill him and head to the right side.

There will be wooden tables to jump across the room, so be careful with the other spitting enemies. After moving forward, you’ll need to jump a little to the left to find the way to the next floor. On the second floor, there will also be wooden tables, but you’ll also see items to collect in every direction.

Unlocking the Plague Tentacle and Delivering the Mercy Kill

On the third floor, you’ll need to go right by jumping across the different wooden tables. Try not to fall; you won’t die, but the frustration will begin to show. After jumping to the right, you’ll find a door. Open it, and on the broken ledge of the balcony, you’ll see a blue point to shoot at, which will unlock a branch to jump across to the next ledge.

The next balcony will also have another broken ledge. You need to activate the platform with the Nephtoglobin Formation ability, then jump over to the next section and turn a little to the left. In that area, you can destroy the plague tentacle that is holding the impaled man.

For this final part, you need to get back to the other side of the building’s exterior. Then, you can choose whether to kill the man or leave him to suffer. After that, you’ll finally complete the Misericorde side quest in Valor Mortis.
