How to Complete the Lost Boy Side Quest in Valor Mortis

At the beginning of Chapter V in Valor Mortis, you´ll reach a place called Vale of Wrath. It looks like a little village full of enemies and items to find. In this area, you´ll also find a side quest to complete called The Lost Boy. The zone will also have many little cabins to explore near a big lake.

How to Complete the Lost Boy Side Quest in Valor Mortis

In the Vale of Wrath, at the start of the level, you´ll need to follow the only path available. As you keep walking along the path, you´ll encounter a lantern to activate another fast travel point. Moving forward, you´ll see a little barn and a house to the left, with a couple of items to gather nearby.

After going left and circling the house, you´ll fight several enemies. Watch out for a big one on the ceiling in the left corner of the house. Continuing all the way to the back of the house, you´ll find a closed door. Right beside it, near the lake, you´ll see a waterfall nearby. From that point, heading to the left, you´ll see a glowing red branch. Before reaching it, you can enter the house by going to the right.

Inside the house, you´ll see a body on the floor with a trail of blood. To the right, on a bench, you´ll spot a letter. Taking that letter will start the Lost Boy side quest. The note is from Mirek to his father and mother. He is joining the resistance, but he promises he will be back.

Going to the upper floor of the house, you´ll activate a flashback of Mirek´s parents discussing when he´ll be back. From the upper floor, you can see the red part you need to shoot to make the red branch in the other house explode and open the way to explore.

Later, when you get out of the house and go along the right side of the lake, you´ll encounter many enemies on the other side. Inside a little cabin across the lake, you´ll find the second letter of the Lost Boy side quest. This note says that you should join the resistance.

Moving straight ahead, you´ll find a little platform-like area that gives you access to a ladder to unlock a secret. However, it´s better to keep to the left and open a shortcut after defeating a challenging flamethrower enemy. After that, you can break a log to create a shortcut to the other side of the lake.

Once you make the shortcut, which is important for finishing the side quest, turn right, and you´ll see where you need to go. Then, you´ll activate another flashback and discover an exchange between Mirek and the resistance about some barrels of poison. Afterward, defeat some enemies, and you´ll see a grapple point.

On the other side of the grapple point, there will be a very tough enemy to defeat. After killing it, you need to move straight ahead and a little to the left to find the cellar key. This is the key to the closed door you found earlier. This will also trigger another update to the side quest. You´ll also find some special ammo and a body. Then, go back to the house using the shortcut.

After entering the cellar, you´ll finish the side quest and discover the truth about how the revolution lost its way and sacrificed young lives for no real purpose. You´ll also find some items to heal yourself and continue exploring the area.
