How to Complete The Scarecrow Quest in Valor Mortis

When it comes to side quests in Valor Mortis, there are quite a few that you can find throughout your journey, each with its own rather unique tone, but when it comes to the side quest, The Scarecrow, you will begin to feel quite sad about those involved, as each moment of said quest will tear you down one step further.

How to Complete The Scarecrow Quest in Valor Mortis

If you haven’t already found The Scarecrow quest within Valor Mortis, do not worry, as we are here to help you before we jump into the full guide for such a side quest. To initiate The Scarecrow quest, what you will need to do is first head to the Fallen Village location, which is the beginning of Chapter 3 for the game.

Once you arrive in this location, you will need to follow the path until you reach the first lantern that allows you to rest before entering this new location.

After you activate this lantern, the mysterious NPC will be there that you can talk to, but once you have done this, you can follow the path to a cornfield with a memory that you can unveil right next to a scarecrow; however, this scarecrow isn’t a normal straw scarecrow but is instead a real human being who has been left here to die.

Now that you have found the Scarecrow, this will be how you begin the quest, as you can watch the memory take place where two soldiers will remove two items from said scarecrow that you will now need to find and return to their original owner, but finding these items isn’t exactly easy.

How to Find the Two Items in The Scarecrow Quest

The first item you will be able to find regarding The Scarecrow quest isn’t actually that far away from the original scarecrow, as it can be found within the field you are in. To find this first item, if you look towards the floor, you can see that there is a path carved out in the mud by a waggon that will guide you into the cornfield towards the first item, or you can simply run diagonally left and forward from the scarecrow, and you will be on the path to the first item.

In terms of distance, this item is only a couple of seconds away and can be found next to a dead body and is very easily noticeable, as it takes the form of a necklace rather than simply being an item that you can pick up.

Now you have the first item; you will need to do a bit of exploration before collecting the second item, as you will need to continue through this act. To do this, you will first need to head through the barn that you are next to at the cornfield before following the road to a shortcut back to the original lantern that you need to open by shooting a boil.

This shortcut is actually located right next to where you need to head to next, as there is a house right next to this location that you will need to enter, but sadly this side of the house isn’t where you enter; you instead need to continue down the main path until you find a side door of said house.

To find this door, you do not need to venture too far, as this area isn’t overly large; it is just filled with enemies and traps that you need to avoid. Once you find your way into the house, you will need to head up the stairs, where you will find a table with a piece of paper on it, and this will be the second item that you will need to continue this quest.

After finding both of these items, you will now need to return to the scarecrow in the field, which isn’t too problematic, as there is a door downstairs that you can unlock and head through, taking you to the shortcut from earlier before you return to the scarecrow. Once you do this, you will finally bring peace to the scarecrow, but this isn’t the end of the quest, as your character will notice that the crows that were surrounding the scarecrow will begin to fly away, and they are guiding you somewhere.

How to Find the Crows’ Final Position

In order to find where the crows are heading, you will simply need to look up towards the sky and follow the line of them that are flying through the sky, as they are very hard to miss, but if you are looking for the simple solution to this, we will guide you below.

The simplest explanation we can give is you will need to head back to the first lantern within this area and head through the large shortcut that will lead you to the head, and yes, you will then need to head through the house and out the other side.

Once you arrive on the other side of this house, you will need to continue with the main route, as you will once again find yourself in a cornfield. If you look to your right, you will now see a small barn that the crows will be circling, and this is your final destination in this side quest.

As you arrive at this location, you will first be able to loot a chest on the lower floor of this small barn, but this isn’t what you are looking for; you instead will want to jump onto the box to your left and climb into the attic of this barn to find a new memory of the scarecrow and his lover, who are talking to each other.

Now that you have made it here and listened to their conversation, you will be able to interact with one of the two pillows that can be found in the attic to finish the quest and gain the Bountiful Harvest item, which you can slot into your skill tree for upgrades.
