Continuing Stupid Never Dies trend of being weird and wonderful after the fight with the Phoenix, we’ve made it to Layer 9 of the dungeon and we’ve encountered KOM, or at least, so we thought. While not surprising to us in the slightest, the boss in front of us here, that Davy believes is KOM, is actually Surtr R.S, one of the four Generals in Stupid Never Dies.

How to Beat Surtr R.S in Stupid Never Dies
When you first encounter him, he goes on a rant about zombies and how lowly they are, and while Davy believes it’s KOM, the game just names him ???. So don’t worry, if you’re looking for how to beat ??? in Stupid Never Dies, we have you covered there as well.
A huge monster to defeat, he’s not to dissimilar to the Cyclops style you can inhabit, and for obvious reasons, I’d suggest you don’t use that style here. Surtr R.S relies on heavy attacks, and fire/explosive attacks to damage you, so you’ll need to be constantly moving, and also paying attention to his attack buildup. If you see the red circles, back away.
For this boss battle, I’d suggest you have at least one Werewolf style to hand, as the quickness of it makes it easy to get out of the way of Surtr R.S’s area of effect attacks. For the second Style slot, I’d go with a Lich. It may sound odd, considering how relatively slow it is to move about, but with it’s somewhat ranged attacks affording you some distance from Surtr R.S, and more importantly the ability to raise the dead, it’s a helpful style to have ready for the second half of the fight.
Make use of Davy’s bite attacks, as they can take huge chunks away from the boss, and come the second half, you’ll notice he becomes a little quicker, more frenzied, and unfortunately, brings some friends along for the ride.
He’ll begin to summon normal enemies to attack you, which will be little more than obstacles in your way at this point, but they are frustrating – hence the Lich. If you do have a Lich style on hand, use it to turn these enemies against Surtr R.S, and then they’ll be getting in his way, as well as attacking him.
Don’t forget you can switch between Styles at will, so once you’ve converted all the enemies to your cause, switch back to the Werewolf Style to continue your quick attacks and movement away from Surtr R.S.

Don’t be ashamed if you die on your first attempt with this boss, he’s one of the first real skill checks in the game, and poses something of a problem if you’re unsure of all the moving parts of the game, mechanics wise.
If you do happen to die, don’t worry, the next time you hit Layer 9, the same cutscene will play out and it’ll be as if it didn’t happen, so you can go again. Once you beat Surtr R.S, you’ll get the trophy for doing so, and can move onto the next stage of Davy’s story.
