Throughout The Relic: First Guardian, there are plenty of bosses that can be labelled as formidable and can easily block players from their well-earned rewards, and none earn this title like Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter, as his boss fight is quite a challenging one with numerous heavy-hitting attacks that are as fast as they are punishing. You thought Fugitive Mog was difficult? The Wingless Woman hard? Just wait. Don’t worry though, we’ll walk you through location, rewards and exactly how to beat Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter in The Relic: First Guardian.
How to Find Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter in The Relic: First Guardian
When it comes to finding Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter, there is going to be a lot of running around involved, as finding his location is relatively simple, but accessing his boss room could prove a challenge for some players, while others may stumble in not realising they skipped half the necessary steps.
The reason I say this is because finding Vermion is as simple as running up a cliff and eventually stumbling into a set of ruins at the top-right section of the map, as shown in the image above. If you head up this long road from the bottom, you will know you are in the right place, as Elisa, your guide in this story, will begin talking as you begin to approach a set of rubble-covered stairs that have a note laid upon them.
After searching through the notes, you will eventually be guided towards a cave entrance that is locked by a barrier. Throughout the notes, you will hear about an NPC who has found a stone that allows them to enter the boss location for Vermion, and that it is too dangerous, so it has been hidden in a cave beneath a waterfall behind the refugee village.
For those who have good memories, they will know the location of the Refugee Village well as it is located back in the first open-world area, and behind it you can find a location known as Golden Descent, in which a waterfall and enemies hidden under the water can be found.

Once you defeat these enemies and head behind the waterfall, you will then come across a small room with a chest holding the stone that you need to enter Vermion’s location.
Now that you have the stone needed to enter Vermion’s domain, head back to the ruins and use the stone to enter the Hall of Gilded Judgement, which is filled with more lore notes throughout the area and some ghosts that are seemingly worshipping what is ahead. Although in the past ghosts have been a threat to the player, do not fret, as these ghosts are perfectly docile and will allow you to pick up the lore pieces without problem and head directly to Vermion’s boss room.

How to Beat Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter
For those who can make their way to Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter, and are looking to take on this impressive enemy, there is plenty of advice we can provide that can help you defeat this enemy with ease, whether it be countering his most powerful attacks or avoiding those that seem too strong to protect yourself against.
Jumping straight in, a safe warning when it comes to fighting Vermion is simply to expect a lot of fast attacks that require extremely fast reflexes. Whether these reflexes are your parrying or dodging reflexes, they both need to be extremely primed for this boss as he moves towards the player very fast and does a lot of small attacks that can hit in quick succession.
One of the first attacks you will likely experience with Vermion after his cutscene showcasing his intimidating armour and weapon is an attack that closes the gap between the player and the boss as he leaps towards the player, twirling in the air and slamming his spear down on the player.
After this opening gambit, the fast attacks and challenging parries follow as Vermion jumps straight into the fast combos that are a mix of slashes with his spear and short jabs that can easily catch the player off guard and drain their stamina in a matter of seconds if they continue to casually block rather than perfect parry.

- Arg
What makes these jabbing attacks even more dangerous is that at the end of the combos Vermion will end the combo with a charged-up attack, which is easily noticeable thanks to the energy that is spiralling around the tip of his spear, meaning that if you are dodging these attacks rather than parrying, it is best to dodge sideways as the blast from this explosion pushes past the spear towards the player.
For the first half of the fight, Vermion will only use a few different combos that are quite easily predictable, but after around the 50-60% mark of his health, Vermion will begin adding in more combos to his collection. The first of which is a mix of various ways for Vermion to use his spear. This happens by him slashing his spear low, attempting to jab you, and doing a second slash before leaping into the air and attempting to impale you into the floor.
If this attack hits, it can be quite painful and can lead to a lot of health loss, but it isn’t as bad as the unblockable attack that Vermion uses, in which he charges up the glowing golden energy just like before, but instead he charges it around himself like a large dome before ultimately jabbing his spear towards the player, shooting a large golden beam out from his spear.
However, paying attention to this move is incredibly important, as there is a very similar version that Vermion can use that doesn’t have the unblockable icon appear above his head, and the reason for this is simply because he does not charge it up as much, only doing a small jabbing attack that emits a small blast from his spear rather than the full beam the other attack boasts.
Now that you know how to defeat Vermion, it simply just takes patience and waiting for an opening, as normally bosses would be quite easily stunnable through skills, but Vermion is not so easy, as he can resist these small staggers and likely will continue to attack until his poise is entirely broken.
After you have defeated Vermion, the Gilded Arbiter, you will finally be able to acquire his loot, which is as follows:
- The Relic – Release of Will
- His Armour – The Armor of One Who Could Not Judge
- His Lore
- Relic Energy
Finally, once you have claimed your loot, you will then be able to leave this boss room, and to do this, there is a secret passage behind the statue and candles towards the top end of the room which will lead you to a Tibelle’s Blessing and a small cliff that requires parkouring down.
