After defeating your first boss in Mortal Shell 2, you may be looking to try out your skills with another boss, and lucky for you, you won’t have to wait long, as the Tainted Vestige is nearby and eager to fight you and put your newfound skills to the test.
How to Find Tainted Vestige in Mortal Shell 2
If you are following our guides, you will have recently beaten the boss Gloombound Ritualist and his explosive friends, and now you have the opportunity to carry on down the path towards the next area of this “tutorial” section of the game. Once you have defeated the Gloombound Ritualist, you will have a straightforward path to follow that will eventually take you over a bridge. If you are feeling confident, you can jump down off this bridge to your left and enter the boss arena for the Tainted Vestige, but we do not recommend this.
Instead, continue walking down the path toward a building housing a beacon you can cleanse to restore your health and your healing items. After you rest, you have the option to return to the bridge and jump off, or there is a simple path that you can walk down. If you turn around from the beacon and look to your right, there will be a small hole in the wall leading back into the swamp. This walk is very short and will rapidly lead you to the Tainted Vestige, so be prepared as the fight kicks off instantly.
How to Beat Tainted Vestige
When it comes to fighting Tainted Vestige, there are quite a few mechanics and attacks that you will have to watch out for in order to stay alive long enough to win the fight. Whether it be his unblockable attack, the flames he leaves behind, or his stretchy arms, there are quite a few challenges you will need to overcome in order to win.
As a warning, a big problem that you will likely face during this fight is that Tainted Vestige’s attacks will always apply a burning status to your character, meaning that even if you avoid its attacks, the fiery explosions can still harm you if they collide with you.
In terms of his rather basic attacks that you can dodge or parry, there are quite a few that it will employ. Some of the more common attacks that you will come to expect while fighting this boss are attacks such as him combining both of his hands and raising them into the air before slamming them into the floor, causing a fiery blast.
Another attack that is similar to this attack is when Tainted Vestige does a similar action, but instead of just slamming his arms down, he stretches them into the air before slamming them down again in a more elongated attack that again causes a fiery explosion where its arms land and past it, meaning that you need to dodge sideways rather than backwards to avoid this attack more consistently.
When it comes to Tainted Vestige’s most dangerous attack, it comes in the form of a grab attack that can easily demolish your health if it connects with you. In order to predict this attack, Tainted Vestige will warn you with a symbol appearing at the lock-on point before he uses his arm to grab you and then throws you inside his open maw before crushing you a few times.
Once you manage to get used to these attacks and either parry them or avoid them, you will be on your way to defeating this enemy and progressing through the game. Now that you have defeated the Tainted Vestige, you will also claim his rewards, which at this point in the game aren’t overly special, but they can help in certain situations.
