Mortal Shell 2, like other Soulslikes, has a simple method of upgrading your weapons. Considering some of the enemies you’ll encounter in your exploration of the world, you’re going to want to make this a priority. Unlike other mechanics in the game though, it’s left to you to find out how to upgrade your weapons in Mortal Shell 2, but also where to do it. By the end of this guide, we’ll have given you every opportunity to jump in game and get a little, or a lot, stronger weapons.
How to Upgrade Your Weapons in Mortal Shell 2
In the central hub of Mortal Shell 2, Marrow’s Keep, you’ll have a multitude of people and things to interact with. From the shopkeeper and his maps, to Sister Genessa and her tutorials. As well as that, you’ll also have to make a beeline for Franz, the surly, stressy and clearly done-with-it weapon smith, who is responsible for upgrading your weapons in the game. As you know, if you’ve read our weapons locations guide, there are A LOT to find, with eight primary, and eight secondary weapons scattered across the map, all possible to be upgraded, and all offering different benefits from doing so, but how exactly do you upgrade your weapons in Mortal Shell 2?
Finding him isn’t hard though. Once you’ve past the giantess responsible for upgrading your Shells, you’ll be in the central room of Marrow’s Keep. If you continue straight on, you’ll end up at an elevator taking you up and out into the open world, head right and you’ll meet the aforementioned Shopkeeper, and left will take you towards Franz and his huge machinery.
At first, you’ll only be able to upgrade your primary weapon, as you’ll need to find and hand-in several unique items to Franz to be able to upgrade your secondary weapons. However, as you explore, you’ll come across Ventrium and Latium, CHECK NAME, both of which are the game’s items required to upgrade your weapons, as well as gold alongside. At first, it’ll be small amounts for the first few upgrades, and Ventrium, but as you progress through the levels, it’ll increase in gold and swap to Latium, CHECK NAME, which is far rarer in the world.

You can find both of those items by beating bosses, exploring Corrupted Gates and Beacons, opening chests, and of course, hitting the many different Gloom lamps sticking out of the ground, some of which have Ventrium in.
It’s worth returning to Franz regularly, as you’ll be surprised how a few upgrades in levels will boost your damage and make your previously soft and low-damaging weapon a proper force to be reckoned with. And that’s that, it’s that easy to upgrade your weapons in Mortal Shell 2, and well worth doing every time.
