How to Beat the Infested Miner in Mortal Shell 2

infested miner in mortal shell 2

The bosses in the bottom half of the map in Mortal Shell 2 are harder than those at the top; there, I said it. Greater build variety, more damage in attack, and more unpredictability – it’s understandable why you’d need a little help, and there’s no shame in that. Now you’re here, let us help you figure out how to beat the Infested Miner in Mortal Shell 2 quickly, easily, and with the added bonus of telling you where he is and what rewards you’ll get for your trouble.

Infested Miner Location in Mortal Shell 2

You’ve guessed it, the Infested Miner is at the bottom of a mineshaft. Said mineshaft is in a beacon, but the point stands. To find the beacon itself, you’ll want to head towards the westernmost Corrupted Gate on the bottom half of the map. You’ll know you’re headed in the right direction after a couple of traversal gates and way too many coffins in such a small town. Seriously, there’s hundreds of coffins you’ll go past (and some skeevy looking coffin enemies) for a town that has maybe twenty houses? Anyway, head upwards towards the gate, through the coffin town’s streets, and you’ll end up at the Gate of Marrow. This is the right beacon.

Once you’re in the beacon, the name of the game is to head down. It’s a linear path, so you’ll struggle to get lost, but head to the bottom of the pit, and you’ll come to a wooden house. When facing the door into this house, do a 180 and head through the rock formation, killing the miners, little rock bugs, and knight, and then you’ll be faced with what seems like a dead end. This is where you need to be. Use your Secondary Weapon to blow up the tar barrels, and then squeeze through the gap. You’ll be on a platform; walk forward, and here he is, the Infested Miner.

How to Beat the Infested Miner in Mortal Shell 2

As bosses of the bottom half of the map go in Mortal Shell 2, the Infested Miner isn’t the hardest. In fact, he’s only a little more threatening than any of the other miners you’ve just passed to get here. However, his biggest threat is from his attacks causing cave-ins, which can be a real problem.

When you start the fight, be wary of both the cave-ins and the little rock bugs he continually spawns in the arena. How to combat these? Well, you’ll need to know my build:

  • Eredrim Shell – Location here.
  • Veteran’s Battle Axe – Location here.
  • Troubadour Lute.
  • Vatra Seal.
  • Marksman’s Stone – Increases crit chance of ranged weapons.
  • Retribution Stone – Increases Riposte damage.
  • Deadeye Stone – Increases ranged crit damage.
  • Berserker Stone – Increases damage output the lower your health is.

If you have the Lute, it’s once again invaluable here. Using it on the bugs and the Infested Miner will cause them to attack one another. This is a surprisingly good tactic to ensure that you’re safe, whilst continually lowering the health bar of the Infested Miner, and at the same time getting rid of a few of those bugs. Be wary, though, because they spawn constantly; there will always be a few of them that aren’t under your spell, and of course it does wear off in time anyway.

The Infested Miner’s only real attack is to dig his pickaxe into the ground, or your skull, if you’re not paying full attention. As mentioned, this does prompt the cave-ins, so rocks can and will land on your head and hurt you, as will the incessant attacks from the rocky bugs.

A few tips to make your life easier though:

  • Use your Lute to persuade everyone to attack each other.
  • Dodge. Dodge constantly. You’ll be attacked from every angle. Don’t stop moving.
  • Use a weapon with a wide range of motion. The heavy attack of the Veteran’s Battle Axe will take out multiple enemies in one hit, for example.

Using either the Lute or your Harden/Parry, you’ll notice the Infested Miner is weak to stun, leaving him quickly and regularly in position for a Riposte attack. Don’t disappoint. Get in close and give him one or two. Three, along with other attacks, is enough to defeat the Infested Miner. As soon as you do, the arena clears of any other enemies, and you’ll get some rewards, as usual:

  • Gloom
  • Glimpse x 1
  • Ventrium x 1
  • Laterite x 1
  • Dorsalite x 1
  • Wretchcaller’s Stone
