If you’re at this point in Mortal Shell 2, you’ve likely already met the Strange Grisha’s cousins, the Rabid Grisha Pack and the singular Grisha. Maybe you’ve got the rhythm and tactics down, maybe you haven’t. Either way you’re here and looking for help, and by the end of this guide, we’ll have explained how to beat Strange Grisha in Mortal Shell 2, its location and the rewards you get for your somewhat trouble. Oh, and there’s a cheese method thrown in.
Strange Grisha Location in Mortal Shell 2
Strange Grisha is easily missed if you’re either not paying attention or thinking you’ll return at a later date. Part of the furthest Western gate at the bottom half of the map, he’s squirreled away. When you start the gate, you’ll want to head down the linear path, paying close attention to enemies and killing them as you go.
Not long after you begin, you’ll enter a large, open lake area, with Grisha hunters, eel snake things, and a traversal gate. This gate is your target. It’s up to you whether you ignore or fight the enemies, but be warned, you’ll need your health and potions for Strange Grisha, and the next Beacon isn’t for a while.

How to Beat Strange Grisha in Mortal Shell 2
This version of the Grisha variants is a little bigger, just as fast, and arguably more angry than either of the others you’ll have encountered to this point. That said, he doesn’t have the greatest amount of health or defensive capabilities against stun, and the arena can even be used to beat him quicker than you’d think. Before that, though, here’s my build I used when I beat him:
- Eredrim Shell – Location here.
- Veteran’s Battle Axe – Location here.
- Troubadour Lute.
- Vatra Seal.
- Marksman’s Stone – Increases crit chance of ranged weapons.
- Retribution Stone – Increases Riposte damage.
- Deadeye Stone – Increases ranged crit damage.
- Berserker Stone – Increases damage output the lower your health is.#
When you first land in his arena, take careful note of its layout. It may sound ridiculous saying that when the arena is a flat, open area, but the edges are cliffs, and falling off is insta-death. Make sure to keep this in mind when you’re dodging or running backwards.
If, like me, you’re using Eredrim, I would suggest you allow Strange Grisha to approach you before using his Shoulder Bash technique to cause break damage. I had his familiarity up to four by this point, meaning I had access to and bought some of his highest abilities. That included drastically improving his Shoulder Bash ability, which I used to great effect.

You see, for the most part, Strange Grisha is no different than most other enemies. He approaches, he slashes, and he has unblockable attacks. Nothing he does is particularly special, and once you get the timings down, you’ll be ready to destroy him. He has several attacks, the unblockable one already mentioned, which you’ll need to dodge away from as it can one-hit kill your shell, leaving you vulnerable; or his slashing combo, which you’ll want to parry or Harden.
That slashing combo is actually a big weakness for him, as any half-capable Mortal Shell 2 player will be able to build up Break damage from Harden/Parrying his attacks here, and then Riposte attack him thanks to it. This is where the below Cheese Method comes in.
CHEESE METHOD: As already mentioned, the arena is surrounded by a chasm. You can probably already see where this is going. If you focus your attacks in the same direction, not dodging, but parrying/hardening, you’ll be able to push him towards the cliff edge. An Eredrim Riposte attack on Strange Grisha ends with a kick to the chin, sending him hurtling backwards. If this is close enough to the cliff edge, he’ll go flying over. Be careful though,as the animation can also drag you over along with him.
If you decide not to try and use the above method, you’ll want to continue with the cycle of blocking/hardening, building up break damage, and then Riposte attacking him. His health will drop significantly. If you have the Lute, make sure you use this too, as it’s another method to get his Break meter up.
Strange Grisha isn’t particularly difficult, and if I’m honest, you’ll likely die more from the environment than you will him. Once you have defeated him, you’ll get the following rewards:
- Strange Remnant
- Grisha Remnant#
- Gloom
Before you jump back across the traversal gate and continue on with cleansing this ridiculously large gate, make sure you pick up the Dorsalite in the Strange Grisha arena, but there you have it; now you know how to beat Strange Grisha in Mortal Shell 2! Now, go do it.
