Struggling with Split Fiction? Your partner letting you down? Well, whether it’s during gameplay or a boss, we have absolutely all the answers you could possibly need. This guide will be your Split Fiction walkthrough for the third boss of the game, the SRI Crime Boss, and more accurately, how to beat the SRI Crime Boss.

How to Defeat the SRI Crime Boss

The SRI Crime Boss is the third boss of Split Fiction, and is the culmination of the first chapter. Featuring the pun-giving, intentionally poorly written SRI Crime Boss in what will be the first and last time you have to face her.

Split Fiction’s third boss is different to its predecessors, in that it only has two phases, albeit both far more difficult and damaging than any of the others before it. Split Fiction certainly doesn’t hold back in this boss fight, with the larger than life SRI Crime Boss having multiple different phases and iterations that’ll make you question if you can actually defeat her.

Phase One

The opening phase of the SRI Crime Boss will seem insurmountable at first, as you’re greeted with a Cyberpunk tank in front of you, piloted by the woman herself. Mio and Zoe will still be on their motorbikes (obtained following one of the game’s best set pieces), and you’ll spend the entirety of the boss fight on them, so get to grips with the controls quickly. When the cutscene ends and the combat begins, you’ll both want to split up, and stay split up. Sticking closely together will prove a detriment here, as the SRI Crime Boss will get two for one in its attempts.

To maximise your damage, both Mio and Zoe should aim for the blue floating orbs, as these will power up their weapons, and you can now damage the SRI Crime Boss. Make use of the bike’s handling and handbrake turns to not only avoid damage, but to quickly put the boss in your crosshairs. You’ll have to rinse and repeat this several times, all the while avoiding the fire and jumping over the energy shockwaves. If you manage this, you’ve managed to complete Phase One of the SRI Crime Boss.

Phase Two

The second phase of the SRI Crime Boss is arguably easier than the first, if we’re being honest. You may think otherwise when you see the cutscene, with the Squid-like feet appearing, but don’t worry, you’ll quickly have her under control.

Once the second phase begins, Mio and Zoe need to focus on the three feet, damaging them in the same fashion as above. Grab the orbs, avoid the multitude of attacks and shoot the legs, watching the health bars deplete quickly. Pay close attention to:

  • The laser ray. This will follow you and hit you if you’re not paying attention.
  • The feet. Don’t drive into the feet as it’s an instant death. They leave fire behind in their wake.
  • The other player. Don’t crash into or group your partner. Don’t make it easy on the SRI Crime Boss.

Once you’ve damaged the three feet, the SRI Crime Boss will collapse, revealing a ramp. What’s required now couldn’t be clearer. Grab an orb, ride up the ramp and unload into the SRI Crime Boss. Several rides over between you and your partner should be enough to finish the job, and with it, not only beat the SRI Crime Boss, but finish the first chapter.
