Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios may have done it again. After great success, both critically and commercially, with It Takes Two and A Way Out, the studio has brought us Split Fiction, another game centered around the idea of gaming with another person, and telling the story around that mechanic, and the story of Split Fiction is one for the ages. However, the question is, how long will it take you to beat Split Fiction, and we have the answer.
How Long Does it Take to Beat Split Fiction?
Split Fiction has benefitted from the lessons learned by the studio with its previous games, and in doing so, sends the two protagonists Zoe and Mio on a journey of unbelievable imagination, intrigue, and flat-out enjoyment.

Split Fiction is a game that seems intent on bringing together gamers, much like its predecessors, but that doesn’t mean it has forgotten the most important part of any video game – the story. Telling a multilayered, nuanced story of family, loss, creativity, and much more, you’ll be playing through it and hitting the credits without realizing hours have passed you by.
Split Fiction | |
---|---|
Main Story | 12 Hours |
Main + Extras | 15 Hours |
Platinum Trophy/All Achievements | 18 Hours |
Playing through Split Fiction‘s story is a genuine joy, and with many games like this, the time taken to beat it will vary, however, an average pair of gamers can hope to beat the main story in as little as twelve hours. The ‘Main + Extras’ is for both the main story and the side stories, of which there are twelve to find in total, none being a lengthy affair individually.

Whilst many may think the time taken to beat Split Fiction is a little low, it’s worth mentioning that Hazelight Studios’ games are famous for their replayability. For starters, you will want to play through the story at least twice, once as Mio and once as Zoe, as the gameplay for both is unique to each character. To get the platinum trophy/100% achievements, you’ll want to throw yourself back into it quickly with chapter select doing the heavy lifting, and that will add a few hours as well.

Split Fiction was released for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on March 6th 2025.
