How to Beat William in Control Resonant

Control Resonant doesn’t mess about, throwing you straight in to the mix against some of the weirdest, most wonderful bosses of any game in 2026. From The Artist to William, the early portion of the game is set to test a lot of gamers abilities as they get to grips with the combat and traversal systems in the game. However, we’re here to help you figure out how to beat William in Control Resonant, and by the end of this guide you’ll have mastered him, and his surrounding lackies.

How to Find William in Control Resonant

William is another boss, similar to The Artist, is thrust upon you with little to no warning. As you head through the Underground Supply Routes after meeting Zoe for the first time, you’ll encounter the body of a dead Ranger. Zoe will make comment about hoping for better news but reporting it in. You’ll continue on through the winding tunnels of the Underground Supply Route, before happening upon more dead Rangers.

You’re almost at William by this point, and Zoe points out that the Rangers here would have been ‘armed to the teeth’. Head to the right, and through the tunnel and into the boss arena to fight William. Now comes the hard bit.

How to Beat William in Control Resonant

As you’ll immediately see by what’s in front of you, William is a H.I.S.S controlled entity that is SURROUNDED by basic and heavy enemies. This makes things more difficult, for sure, but before that, here’s my build so you can see how you stack up. Bare in mind this is early game:

  • Primary Form: Strike – A fast attack with a high Critical Chance.
  • Secondary Form: Drill – A quick attack. Charge to continuously drill the target.
  • Barrage – Sends projectiles hurtling towards a target.

As with many other times in Control Resonant, the name of the game here is to always keep moving. You’ll want to focus all your attacks on William, ignoring the basic and heavy enemies beneath you. You’ll be making good use of Dylan’s ability to double dodge, double jump and his elevate ability, all to get to, and keep you close to, William.

You can only elevate for a limited time, so when this happens, you’ll want to cycle back around to the higher platforms, and then jump from one and float towards William, before attacking him with your Secondary Form. In my case with Barrage, I only used this when I was either elevating towards him, or right next to him. Looking up to aim it at William for the ground was a near death sentence that got me swarmed by the basic H.I.S.S.

The attacks you need to worry about, and the reason you always need to keep moving, are two fold. The H.I.S.S below will pepper you with ranged attacks, so while you’re attacking William you’ll want to dodge every now and then. The on-screen indicators will tell you when. On the flip side of that, during the times you’re forced to the floor, William will send down an explosive ranged attack that absolutely will stunlock you, and give the basic enemies a chance to swarm you. If you see a ranged attack from him coming, move out of the way rapidly and move up to the platforms to regain your composure.

William doesn’t have an abundance of health, but his constant moving, and his unwillingness to land anywhere means you’ll only be able to deal damage in moments, rather than sustained attacks. Keep patient, keep moving and don’t give up. Once you’ve beaten William, the rest of the H.I.S.S below will need to be killed too, and as usual, make sure to focus on the heavy enemies as that’ll stop the more basic enemies spawning.

Once that’s done, you of course will get some rewards for your trouble:

  • 2 x Corrupted Element
  • 1 x Warped Resonance
  • 275 x Source
  • Hiss Riveter

And now you can continue your journey through the creepy Underground Supply Route!
